The photograph shows a macro image of Kusum(schleichera oleosa) flower. Flowers of the kusum tree are tiny, occurring in short dense yellow clusters. Pastes made from the flowers are traditionally used to soothe skin irritations, inflammation, and minor wounds.

A safari is not defined only by tiger sightings, but by every moment the forest quietly offers. From alarm calls echoing through the trees to fresh pugmarks on dusty trails, every sound, movement and silence tells a story of the wild.

The beauty of the jungle lies in noticing the unseen — birds moving through the canopy, deer crossing forest paths, the cool morning breeze, sunlight filtering through bamboo and hidden wildlife thriving all around. Every safari becomes memorable when you learn to experience the forest beyond a single sighting.

In the wild, every moment matters.

This photograph was taken near the Junewani Talab area of a tiger reserve and features the Red-headed Vulture, also known as the Asian King Vulture.

Its head and neck are completely featherless and dark red to orange in colour, while the body is covered with black feathers. Unlike many other vultures that are often seen in large flocks, this species usually prefers to stay alone or in pairs.

It is commonly found in open grasslands, forests, river valleys, and hilly regions. As a scavenger, it plays an important ecological role by feeding on dead animals and helping keep the environment clean.

This species is currently listed as Critically Endangered. One of the major reasons for its rapid population decline is the veterinary drug diclofenac, which is highly toxic to vultures. The species has suffered a severe decline in numbers across its range.

World Otter Day celebrates one of the most charismatic and ecologically important freshwater mammals found across rivers, wetlands, marshes and forest streams. Otters are highly adapted for aquatic life, using their streamlined bodies, webbed feet and dense fur to move efficiently through water habitats.

Beyond their playful behaviour, otters are important indicators of healthy freshwater ecosystems. Their survival depends on clean rivers, abundant fish populations, undisturbed wetlands and balanced aquatic biodiversity.

Increasing habitat degradation, pollution and disturbance to wetlands continue to impact otter populations and freshwater ecosystems across many landscapes. Conserving rivers and wetlands is therefore essential not only for otters, but for countless interconnected species that depend on these habitats.

This lizard is a male Peninsular Rock Agama, also known as the South Indian Rock Agama.

Male agamas become especially striking during the breeding season, when their head and upper body turn bright orange or red, while the rest of the body becomes dark black. Females and non-breeding males are usually olive-brown in colour, helping them blend into rocky surroundings.

These lizards are mainly found in rocky hills, boulders, and stony landscapes. They are often seen basking on warm rocks or sunny surfaces, as they rely on external heat to regulate their body temperature.

Male agamas are commonly observed sitting on rocks while bobbing their heads or doing push-up displays to establish dominance and defend territory.

They primarily feed on insects and other small invertebrates. The species plays an important role in the ecosystem, and their presence may also indicate environmental changes or increasing urban heat levels.

Eurasian Coots are among the many wetland birds that quietly contribute to the balance of aquatic ecosystems. Found in calm freshwater habitats, these birds are known for their strong swimming ability, territorial behavior during breeding season and striking red eyes.
Wetlands support a remarkable diversity of birdlife and act as important ecosystems for countless aquatic species. Observing species like the Eurasian Coot reflects the richness and health of these natural habitats.
