The North Eastern Council (NEC) successfully hosted a virtual webinar on the theme:

“Empowered Women, Healthier Generations: Bridging Maternal Health Gaps in Tea Garden & Tribal Communities of the North-Eastern Region” on 29th May 2026.

The session commenced with a welcome address and introduction to the theme by Smt. Sherry Lalthangzo, Economic Adviser, NEC, highlighting the importance of inclusive maternal healthcare and community-based interventions across the North Eastern Region.

The webinar also featured an insightful Expert Session by Prof. (Dr.) Baridalyne Nongkynrih, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, who shared valuable perspectives on maternal health challenges, awareness, accessibility, and sustainable healthcare approaches for tea garden and tribal communities.

As part of Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, the North Eastern Council Secretariat, Shillong extended support to Umphrew Village, East Khasi Hills District by providing sanitation and cleaning materials, waste management supplies, disinfectants, and protective equipment to strengthen community cleanliness efforts.

The initiative promotes cleaner, safer, and healthier surroundings while encouraging active community participation and environmental responsibility. 🌿

As part of Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, the North Eastern Council supported Umsaw Mawjynrong Village, East Khasi Hills, with cleaning tools, sanitation materials, disinfectants, and protective gear to strengthen community-led cleanliness and hygiene efforts.

Together towards a cleaner and healthier environment. 🌿

The newly established AYUSH Development Centre in Aizawl, Mizoram marks a significant step towards strengthening AYUSH infrastructure and services in the region.

The 4-storey facility houses the National AYUSH Mission and State Medicinal Plants Board, along with modern office spaces and a conference hall, creating an enhanced environment for planning, coordination, and promotion of AYUSH initiatives.

The project reflects continued efforts towards improving institutional capacity and supporting holistic healthcare development in Mizoram.

Creativity and awareness took center stage at the NEC Secretariat during the Poster Making Competition under Swachhata Pakhwada 2026. 🎨🌱

The posters, carrying impactful messages on cleanliness, sustainability, and environmental responsibility, were evaluated by Shri Bamin Tarang, APCS, Director (HRD), and Shri Richard J. Lalnunkima, Deputy Adviser (IPR).

The competition reflected the collective commitment towards promoting the vision of a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for all.
