Gerald Samuel Duia, the innovative founder of Duia Trailblazers, is a pioneer in Sustainable Tourism. Holding a Master’s Degree in the field, Gerald began a nine-year journey as a local tour guide, immersing himself in the heart of Meghalaya, engaging with diverse communities and exploring their rich traditions.
In 2018, driven by his passion, Gerald established "Duia Trailblazers" to offer specialized eco-rural tours, culture and heritage expeditions, and thrilling adventures. These thoughtfully crafted experiences aim to provide travelers with meaningful and authentic encounters.
Heading a tourism agency comes with its challenges. Gerald envisions fundamental amenities like public toilets, ATMs, and reliable connectivity in every village of the state. Infrastructure gaps, especially in accommodations in remote villages, present obstacles. However, Gerald remains optimistic that collaboration with the government can address these issues.
Gerald's dedication to uplifting grassroots communities through tourism caught PRIME's attention during the Chief Minister's E-Championship Challenge in 2019. Incubated at PRIME for a year, Duia Trailblazers benefited from boot camps, training, and expert mentorship, proving crucial during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Gerald is also an awardee for the Advanced Training Center, where he will soon be establishing an advanced training center.

Established in 2013, 'Zong Hi-I' is committed to preserving and promoting the art of eri silk weaving. What started as part-time work evolved into a full-time mission to empower local weavers, especially women, with steady livelihoods.
Precious, the driving force, has worked closely with the state government, creating a cooperative society for weaver training. Zong Hi-I takes orders via social media and distributes work among village weavers, producing exclusive, handcrafted products.
Despite challenges, the Tmung family's commitment remains strong, supplying yarn and collecting finished products. While e-commerce giants have shown interest, they prioritize quality over quantity.
