We respect all civil society organisations and pressure groups that work for the welfare, peace, and development of our beloved state of Meghalaya. We believe that, for the betterment of society, we must work together and raise important issues concerning the welfare and interests of our people with mutual respect and dignity.

The demands and concerns raised by you are your democratic rights, and the Government has a responsibility to listen to them and address them through appropriate and peaceful means. However, such demands should not be allowed to disrupt the peace, safety, and normal life of the general public.

School children, women, commuters, visitors, and ordinary citizens should not be made to suffer or face difficulties while carrying out their daily activities.

Your right to raise demands must be respected, and at the same time, the Government must ensure that the rights, safety, and freedom of movement of the general public are equally protected.

The act of demolishing the statue of a great patriot who sacrificed his life for India’s freedom is deeply hurtful and unacceptable. The statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of India’s most revered freedom fighters, at RR Colony should be treated with the utmost respect and dignity.

I strongly condemn such an irresponsible and disrespectful act, which undermines the honour and legacy of those who dedicated their lives to the nation.

We are all Indians, united under one national identity and one common spirit of patriotism. Our forefathers and freedom fighters stood together in the struggle against colonial rule, including great heroes from Meghalaya such as U Tirot Sing, U Kiang Nongbah, and many others who made immense sacrifices for the nation.

I strongly condemn this thoughtless act
carried out without due regard for our values, dignity, history, and respect for our fellow citizens and the nation. We must always honour the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and preserve their legacy for future generations.

Laying of the Foundation Stone for the Establishment of the State Veterinary Hospital

Today, I had the privilege of attending the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the establishment of the State Veterinary Hospital, organised by the Government of Meghalaya, Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary.

The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, along with Shri Sanbor Shullai, Hon’ble Minister of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Government of Meghalaya, and senior officials of the Department, including Shri Shakil Ahamed, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya.

I am deeply grateful and honoured to have had the opportunity to participate in this important occasion alongside our dedicated office-bearers and colleagues.

The establishment of the State Veterinary Hospital is a significant and much-needed step for the farmers and livestock rearers of Meghalaya. It will greatly strengthen veterinary healthcare services and provide much-needed support to those whose livelihoods depend on livestock farming.

The hospital will benefit farmers and livestock owners who rear cattle, pigs, goats, poultry, and indigenous hill cattle, helping them access better veterinary care, disease prevention, treatment, and timely assistance during outbreaks of infectious diseases.

This initiative will not only help protect and improve the health of our livestock but will also contribute towards strengthening the rural economy, farmers’ livelihoods, food security, and the overall socio-economic well-being of the people of Meghalaya.

I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the Government of Meghalaya and the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary in taking this important initiative forward. May this institution become a strong pillar of support for our farmers and livestock rearers across the State.
