Special Guest Lecture on India-Tibet Relations

The Department of Political Science, under the aegis of IQAC, RKMV, and in collaboration with the 108 Peace Institute, organized a special guest lecture on 19 August 2026 on the theme “India-Tibet Relations: Historical & Political Ties and Their Contemporary Significance.”

The session was graced by Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal, RKMV, and Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Former Parliamentarian of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Dharamsala was the keynote speaker. He shared insightful perspectives on the historical, cultural, spiritual, and geopolitical ties between India and Tibet, highlighting their contemporary significance for environmental security, human rights, and national security.

Appreciating the insightful address of the keynote speaker, the Principal acknowledged the valuable perspectives shared and encouraged students to explore Tibet’s rich cultural heritage and traditional knowledge systems, particularly its traditional practices of medicine.

The lecture proved to be an enriching learning experience, providing students and faculty with a deeper understanding of the historical and contemporary dimensions of India-Tibet relations

अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस पर RKMV की छात्राओं की सराहनीय भागीदारी

12 अगस्त 2026 को अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस के अवसर पर स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण विभाग, हिमाचल प्रदेश तथा हिमाचल प्रदेश राज्य एड्स नियंत्रण समिति के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में होटल पीटरहॉफ, शिमला में “HIV और नशे के विरुद्ध युवा एकजुट” कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया।

कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अतिथि हिमाचल प्रदेश के स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण मंत्री श्री धनीराम शांडिल तथा विशिष्ट अतिथि शिमला के शहरी विधायक डॉ. हरीश जनारथा उपस्थित रहे। इस कार्यक्रम में राजकीय कन्या महाविद्यालय (RKMV), शिमला की NCC, NSS, Rangers & Rovers तथा Red Ribbon Club की 200 छात्राओं ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया। छात्राओं ने रंगोली, टाइल पेंटिंग, अम्ब्रेला पेंटिंग एवं पोस्टर मेकिंग के माध्यम से नशे के दुष्परिणामों को उजागर करते हुए युवाओं को नशे से दूर रहने तथा HIV/AIDS के प्रति जागरूक रहने का संदेश दिया।

छात्राओं की रचनात्मक प्रस्तुतियों और अनुशासित सहभागिता ने कार्यक्रम को विशेष रूप से आकर्षक बनाया तथा समाज में नशामुक्ति एवं HIV/AIDS के प्रति जागरूकता का सकारात्मक संदेश प्रसारित किया। RKMV की छात्राओं ने अपनी सक्रिय भागीदारी के माध्यम से युवा शक्ति, सामाजिक जागरूकता, नेतृत्व एवं जिम्मेदारी का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण प्रस्तुत किया।

Independence Day Celebration

Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla, celebrated the 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with immense patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, followed by a ceremonial march past by the volunteers of NSS, NCC and Ranger Rovers.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal highlighted the significance of Independence Day and emphasized the values of patriotism, national unity, responsibility and commitment towards the nation. An on-the-spot quiz on India and its Freedom Struggle was also organised for the students.

The celebration was further enriched by cultural performances that reflected the spirit of patriotism and India’s rich cultural diversity.

The programme concluded on a patriotic note, reaffirming the college community’s solidarity, national pride and commitment towards the nation.

“Elara”: Celebrating New Beginning, Talent and Dreams

Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla, celebrated “Elara” its Freshers’ Party on 13th August 2026, in an atmosphere filled with excitement, enthusiasm and youthful spirit.

The name “Elara” symbolises brightness, beauty and a new beginning, reflecting the spirit of the freshers as they embark on an exciting journey of learning, growth and self-discovery.

The programme was graced by Ms.Rupali Thakur( IAS), Director of Dr. Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration as the Chief Guest. Her presence inspired the young girls to dream big and strive for excellence.

The programme commenced with the formal welcome of the Chief Guest by the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena and her address to the gathering. The Principal warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and the freshers, setting the tone for a vibrant celebration of talent, culture and confidence.

The main attractions of the programme were the modelling session and the vibrant cultural presentations, which captivated the audience and created a spellbinding atmosphere.

The modelling session featured four dynamic rounds –Glittering Stars, Dancing Divas, Talent Round and Q/A Round, showcasing the participants’ elegance, creativity and confidence. The panel of judges for the modelling session comprised:

The cultural segment beautifully showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India. Various performances(Kashmiri Dance, South Indian Dance,Bollywood ,Uttrakhand Dance,Lavani,Punjabi, Harayanvi Dance, Retro,Dandiya, Nati and song performances) - thoughtfully choreographed and presented by the Department of Dance and Music, brought alive the vibrant traditions of different regions of the country. The cultural presentations culminated in a stirring Desh Bhakti performance “Maa Tujhe Salaam”, filling the atmosphere with patriotic fervour and a deep sense of national pride.

Addressing the gathering the Chief Guest appreciated Principal’s efforts in bringing positive changes and improvements to the institution. She also sensitized young girls about the dangers of drug abuse and cybercrime. She motivated the young girls to believe in themselves and reminded them that they are “here to conquer the world.”

The celebration was a beautiful blend of culture, confidence, talent and youthful energy, creating cherished memories for the freshers as they began their new chapter at RKMV Shimla.

National Librarian Day Celebration

Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla, celebrated National Librarian Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Indian librarian and library scientist, Dr. S. R. Ranganathan on12th August 2026.Various engaging and academic activities were organized by the Library Committee under the aegis of IQAC.

The programme was graced by Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal, RKMV, as the Chief Guest. The theme of the celebration was “Libraries: Connecting People, Preserving Knowledge, Empowering the Future.” Based on this theme, a declamation competition, bookmark design competition, quiz competition and book exhibition –cum-sale were organized.

Students from the cluster colleges as well as nearby colleges participated enthusiastically in these competitions. The participating cluster colleges included Government College, Sunni; Government College, Kandaghat; Government College, Theog; Centre of Excellence, Shimla and St. Bedes College,Shimla.

The activities were judged by a distinguished panel comprising Dr. I. D. Sharma, Dr. Bhagwati Charan, Dr. Himani Saxena, and Dr. Anjana Bhardwaj. The event provided students with an opportunity to celebrate the significance of libraries and promote reading, creativity, and a deeper appreciation of knowledge and learning.

Addressing the gathering the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena highlighted the vital role of libraries in connecting communities, preserving knowledge, promoting reading, and empowering learners for the future. She emphasized that while e-resources have expanded access to information, they cannot replace the existence and value of physical libraries and books. She also highlighted the significant role of librarians as curators and custodians of knowledge, who guide readers, preserve valuable resources, and facilitate meaningful access to information.

The celebration was a meaningful effort to promote reading habits, encourage creativity, and remind students of the lasting value of books and libraries.

Awareness Programme on TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

The NCC Unit of RKMV Shimla, organized an awareness programme under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on 11 August 2026.
The activity aimed to create awareness among students about tuberculosis, its prevention, early detection and the importance of timely treatment.

During the programme, an awareness session was conducted to educate students about TB and Drugs. The session was followed by a poster-making activity, where NCC cadets participated actively and also conveyed messages related to drugs and HIV awareness and prevention through creative posters.

The activity helped students develop greater awareness about tuberculosis and strengthened their sense of social responsibility. The programme reflected the NCC's spirit of community service and active participation, encouraging cadets to contribute towards a healthier and TB-free society.

Interactive and Motivational Address for the Boarders of Tribal Hostel and Sainik Hostel

An interactive and motivational session was organized for the boarders of the Tribal Hostel and Sainik Hostel on 10th August 2026, wherein the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, addressed the students and encouraged them to make the best use of their time and opportunities.

Key Highlights:
• The Principal emphasized the importance of following college rules and maintaining discipline.
• She stressed the importance of respecting teachers, wardens, and parents.
• Students were encouraged to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the hostel and college premises.
• The responsible use of mobile phones and social media was emphasized.
• She also advised them to avoid indiscipline, unhealthy habits, substance abuse, unnecessary late outings and activities that could adversely affect their safety, studies and future.
• Students were motivated to remain focused on their studies, set clear goals, and develop confidence and a positive outlook towards life.
• The importance of self-discipline, confidence, and a positive attitude was highlighted.

The session was highly motivational and inspiring, encouraging students to become responsible and focused individuals.

चंडीगढ़ से चार दिवसीय प्रशिक्षण लेकर लौटे RKMV के NSS स्वयंसेवी

राजकीय कन्या महाविद्यालय (RKMV), शिमला की NSS सस्वयंसेवी दीक्षा एवं नवीना ने 04 अगस्त 2026 से 07 अगस्त 2026 तक राजीव गांधी राष्ट्रीय युवा विकास संस्थान (RGNIYD), क्षेत्रीय केंद्र, चंडीगढ़ द्वारा आयोजित 'नेतृत्व एवं व्यक्तित्व विकास प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम' में महाविद्यालय का सफलतापूर्वक प्रतिनिधित्व किया।

प्रशिक्षण के दौरान दोनों स्वयंसेवियों ने नेतृत्व विकास, व्यक्तित्व निर्माण, प्रभावी संचार, टीम निर्माण तथा विभिन्न रचनात्मक एवं समूह गतिविधियों में उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया। प्रशिक्षण के माध्यम से उन्होंने नेतृत्व क्षमता, आत्मविश्वास, अनुशासन, सहयोग की भावना तथा सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व से जुड़े अनेक व्यावहारिक अनुभव प्राप्त किए और अनेक नवीन कौशल सीखे।

कार्यक्रम की सांस्कृतिक संध्या में दीक्षा एवं नवीना ने हिमाचल प्रदेश की समृद्ध लोक-संस्कृति का प्रभावशाली प्रदर्शन कर प्रदेश की सांस्कृतिक विरासत से प्रतिभागियों को परिचित कराया। उनकी प्रस्तुति को आयोजकों एवं अन्य राज्यों से आए प्रतिभागियों द्वारा खूब सराहा गया।

महाविद्यालय लौटने के उपरांत दोनों स्वयंसेवियाँ प्रशिक्षण से प्राप्त ज्ञान एवं अनुभव को RKMV की अन्य NSS स्वयंसेवियों के साथ साझा किया और अन्य स्वयंसेवियों को इस प्रकार के प्रशिक्षण में भाग लेने के लिए प्रेरित किया।

RKMV की दो NSS स्वयंसेवियों ने यूथ लीडरशिप बूटकैंप में भाग लिया।

NSS स्वयंसेवियों तमन्ना और आरुषि ने मेरा युवा भारत (MY Bharat), युवा कार्यक्रम एवं खेल मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार द्वारा आयोजित “Youth Leadership Bootcamp” में सक्रिय सहभागिता दी। यह तीन दिवसीय बूटकैंप 5 से 7 अगस्त 2026 तक स्टेट इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ हेल्थ एंड फैमिली वेलफेयर, परिमहल, कुसुम्पटी, शिमला में आयोजित किया गया।

इस बूटकैंप में विभिन्न संस्थानों के लगभग 35 युवा प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया। कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य युवाओं में नेतृत्व क्षमता, टीम भावना, सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व एवं व्यक्तित्व विकास को बढ़ावा देना था। कार्यक्रम के दौरान प्रतिभागियों को MY Bharat Portal तथा मंत्रालय द्वारा आयोजित विभिन्न राष्ट्रीय युवा गतिविधियों के बारे में भी जानकारी दी गई।

RKMV की NSS स्वयंसेवियों तमन्ना एवं आरुषि ने बूटकैंप के दौरान आयोजित स्वच्छता एवं सेवा गतिविधियों में उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया तथा स्वच्छ एवं स्वस्थ समाज के निर्माण का संदेश दिया। दोनों स्वयंसेवियों ने विभिन्न गतिविधियों के माध्यम से अपनी नेतृत्व क्षमता और सामाजिक प्रतिबद्धता का परिचय दिया। इन्होंने महाविद्यालय में आकर इस कैंप में लिए गए प्रशिक्षण के बारे में दूसरे स्वयंसेवियों को बताया और उन्हें इस प्रकार के कार्यक्रम में भाग लेने के लिए प्रेरित किया।
