Smt. Arti Kujur, Independent Director, SJVN Limited visited 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station (Rampur HPS) and 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) in Himachal Pradesh.

At Rampur HPS, she was welcomed by Sh. Vikas Marwah, Head of Project, while at NJHPS, she was welcomed by Sh. Rajeev Kapoor, Head of Project and senior officials of both the power stations.

During the visit, Smt. Kujur toured the powerhouses and key operational units. She was briefed on various aspects of power generation, operational performance, major achievements, maintenance practices, safety standards and initiatives undertaken towards environmental conservation and Corporate Social Responsibility. Detailed discussions were also held on workplace safety, environmental conservation and sustainable development.

Smt. Kujur appreciated both the Power Stations for making significant contribution to India's energy security through operational excellence, innovation and strong corporate governance.

As part of her visit, Smt. Kujur planted saplings at both power stations for promoting awareness for environment conservation and a greener future.

Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, chaired the Parliamentary Consultative Committee Meeting of the Ministry of Power, Government of India on “Parallel Licensing,” attended by 17 Members of Parliament who shared their views and suggestions on the proposed reforms.

Discussions on the Draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and Draft National Electricity Policy, 2026 focused on the proposed “Shared Network, Multiple Licensees” framework, aimed at enabling competition in electricity supply without duplicating the existing distribution network. The framework seeks to offer consumers a choice of electricity supplier while promoting better service, reliability, efficiency and investment through a fair and transparent regulatory mechanism.

The proposed reforms aim to strengthen the power distribution sector and ensure reliable, affordable and high-quality electricity, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
