J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN HOLDS THANA DIWAS AT CHOTIPORA.

September 03: As part of its continued efforts to strengthen public-police relations and promote participatory policing, Shopian Police organized a Thana Diwas at Chotipora.

The thana diwas was chaired by SSP Shopian Sh. Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary–JKPS and was attended by local elders, respectable citizens, traders, youth representatives and members of civil society from Chotipora and adjoining areas.

During the interaction, participants raised several issues of public importance. SSP Shopian gave a patient hearing to the grievances and assured the participants that genuine issues would be taken up on priority. Matters falling under the jurisdiction of other departments would be forwarded to the concerned authorities for appropriate and timely action.

Addressing the gathering, SSP Shopian highlighted the importance of thana diwas in building mutual trust, ensuring transparency and strengthening police-community cooperation. He sought the active cooperation of the public in maintaining law and order, promoting traffic discipline, combating the drug menace and identifying anti-social and anti-national elements attempting to disturb
the peaceful environment of the area.

SSP Shopian reiterated that effective policing is built on trust, cooperation and active community participation and encouraged locals to work closely with the police for a safe, peaceful and secure society.

J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN ORGANIZED ROAD RACE AT IMAMSAHIB UNDER THE CIVIC ACTION PROGRAMME.

September 02: Under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme, Shopian Police organized a Road Race at Imamsahib with the objective of promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, healthy engagement and a drug-free lifestyle among youth.

The race commenced from Adkhar chowk and culminated at Dobhipora Crossing Imamsahib. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth and sports enthusiasts, who took part in the race with great zeal, enthusiasm and sporting spirit.

The programme provided participants an opportunity to showcase their endurance and athletic abilities while fostering discipline, unity, camaraderie and a spirit of healthy competition.

The event also carried a strong message against drug abuse and substance addiction, encouraging youth to stay away from drugs and adopt healthy, productive and constructive activities. Participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of sports and physical activities in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

August 31: Under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme, Shopian Police organized a Road Race from Batapora Stadium Shopian upto Arhama Mandi with the objective of promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, healthy engagement and a drug-free lifestyle among youth.

The race was flagged off by SSP Shopian Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, accompanied by other senior police officers. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth and sports enthusiasts, who took part in the race with great zeal, enthusiasm and sporting spirit.

J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN ATTACH RESIDENTIAL HOUSE ACQUIRED THROUGH PROCEEDS OF DRUG TRAFFICKING.

August 30: As part of its continued crackdown on narcotics-related activities, Shopian Police have attached a residential house valued at ₹16,77,448/- belonging to Hilal Ahmad Dar Son of Gh Ahmad Dar resident of Vehil Shopian. The property was identified as having been acquired through proceeds generated from the illegal trade of drugs and narcotics. Accordingly, the said property has been attached in connection with FIR No. 80/2024 of Police Station Shopian.

The attachment proceedings were carried out in the presence of duly constituted police team, Executive Magistrate, Lambardar and Chowkidar, ensuring full compliance with all legal procedures and maintaining transparency.

Shopian Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs by targeting both offenders and the financial assets generated through illicit activities. The general public is urged to come forward with any information regarding drug trafficking or related activities.

Action Against Illegal Mining

J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN SEIZED 02 JCB, 02 DUMPERS & 01 TIPPERS; 02FIRs REGISTERED.

August 29: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, Shopian Police seized two JCB, two dumpers and one tipper involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas of the district.

During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Station Zainapora intercepted and seized two JCBs and one Dumper while they were allegedly engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. In this connection, FIR No. 110/2026 registered at Police Station Zainapora under relevant provisions of law and investigations have been initiated.

In a similar action, police party from Police Post Turkwangam intercepted and seized one Dumper and one tipper involved in illegal mining activities without mandatory permissions. In this regard FIR No. 112/2026 under relevant provisions of law was registered in Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated.

Shopian Police reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the districts natural resources and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities. The general public has been urged to cooperate with the police and report any such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN ORGANISES AND CONCLUDEDS VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT UNDER CIVIC ACTION PROGRAMME.

August 27: In a vibrant initiative aimed at youth empowerment, community engagement and promotion of sports, Shopian Police today organised and successfully concluded a Volleyball Tournament at Sports Stadium, Vishroo Keller, under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP).

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation of four teams from adjoining areas within the jurisdiction of Police Station Keller, namely Gatipora Shamshers, Thearina Warriors, Zrakan Fearless Fighters and Keller Kashmir Warriors. The participating players displayed commendable sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork and competitive spirit throughout the tournament, creating an atmosphere of excitement and community bonding.

The tournament was inaugurated by DySP PC Keller Shri Arsalan Ahmad-JKPS, accompanied by the SHO Police Station Keller and In-Charge Police Post Berthipora. The officers interacted with the participating players and local youth, appreciated their enthusiasm and sporting spirit and encouraged them to actively participate in sports and other constructive activities. The officers highlighted the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, confidence and a positive outlook among youth.

The final match was played between Zrakan Fearless Fighters and Gatipora Shamshers, with Zrakan Fearless Fighters emerging victorious. The winning and runners-up teams were felicitated with suitable cash prizes and mementos and appreciated for their outstanding performance, determination and sporting spirit.

In a similar action, police party from Police Station Heerpora intercepted and seized six tractors involved in illegal mining activities without mandatory permissions. In this regard FIR No. 86/2026 under relevant provisions of law was registered in Police Station Heerpora and investigation has been initiated.

J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN ORGANIZES ONE DAY CYBER AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT ALLAMA IQBAL MEMORIAL INSTITUTE ZAINAPORA.

August 25: In order to sensitize students about the growing threats of cybercrime and promote safe digital practices, Shopian Police today organized a one-day Cyber Awareness Programme at Allama Iqbal Memorial Institute, Zainapora.

The programme was conducted by the SHO Zainapora and witnessed active participation from students, who were educated about the importance of cyber safety in today’s digital era. The initiative aimed at creating awareness about various cyber threats including online scams, financial frauds, phishing, OTP-related frauds, password security, cyberbullying, social media risks and other forms of cybercrime.

During the session, students were informed about various preventive measures to safeguard their personal information and digital identity. Emphasis was laid on responsible internet usage, safe online transactions and the importance of not sharing confidential details such as OTPs, passwords, bank credentials and other personal information. The students were also encouraged to remain vigilant while using social media and online platforms and to immediately report any suspicious cyber activity or financial fraud to the concerned authorities.

The programme highlighted the proactive role of Shopian Police in promoting cyber awareness and ensuring a secure digital environment. Such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening the bond between police and the community, while empowering the younger generation to stay safe and responsible in the digital world.
