Today on 22nd August’ 2026, a District-Level Awareness Programme on Artificial Insemination was organized by the District Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Cachar, in collaboration with the Assam Livestock Development Agency (ALDA) under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, at Saha’s Hall, Silchar.
The programme was graced by representatives of the Hon’ble MLAs of Udharbond and Sonai LACs, local dairy farmers, representatives of Borak Dairy Co., NGOs, Pashusakhis, the Senior Veterinary Officers and officials along with staff of the A.H. & Veterinary Department, Cachar.
Veterinary Officers (VOs/BVOs), Veterinary Field Assistants (VFAs), office staff of the DVO, Cachar, and officials and staff of ICDP, Ghungoor and VTC, Salchapra also participated in the programme.
The programme aimed to create awareness among dairy farmers and stakeholders about the importance and benefits of Artificial Insemination in improving livestock productivity and promoting scientific dairy farming practices.

Review Meeting with A.H. & Veterinary Department, Cachar:

A review meeting is held today on 8th August, 2026 in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner, Cachar with the A.H. & Veterinary Department, Cachar, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, in the presence of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Veterinary). The meeting reviewed the progress of various departmental activities, ongoing veterinary and animal husbandry programmes, and the implementation of government schemes in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the performance of the department and emphasized the need for effective field-level implementation, regular monitoring, timely reporting, and improved delivery of veterinary services to livestock farmers. The officers were directed to address existing gaps and ensure coordinated efforts for the overall development of the animal husbandry and veterinary sector in the district.
The meeting concluded with directions for continued supervision and timely follow-up on the decisions taken.

The day-long celebration of World Veterinary Day 2026, organized by AAHVSA, Cachar District Branch, was successfully conducted with great enthusiasm and participation. The program began with a plantation drive, followed by the felicitation of senior officials and all veterinary officers of the district. Progressive farmers were also honored and awarded certificates of appreciation in recognition of their valuable contributions. A documentary film showcasing the achievements of progressive farmers was screened, along with a thematic presentation on this year’s World Veterinary Day theme. The event concluded on a positive note with a heartfelt vote of thanks to all participants and contributors.
