♻️🇮🇳 AWARENESS CUM SENSITISATION PROGRAM UNDER SWACHH BHARAT MISSION (SBM) 🇮🇳♻️
With a vision of promoting cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and public health, the 28th Sumin Lingzey Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) successfully organized an Awareness Cum Sensitisation Program under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) on 25th June 2026 at Lower Lingzey Secondary School and Lower Sumin Secondary School.
The programme brought together students, teachers, Headmistresses, Health & Wellness Centre staff, upper Sumin school community members collective effort to strengthen awareness regarding sanitation, waste management, environmental conservation, and menstrual hygiene management.
A key highlight of the programme was the installation of Incinerators and the distribution of 4-Stream Source Segregation Bins to educational institutions and public facilities. Participants were educated on the importance of segregating waste at source to reduce pollution, improve recycling practices, and promote sustainable waste management.
The segregation system included:
🟢 Green Bin – Wet Waste: Biodegradable waste such as food scraps, vegetable peels, and garden waste.
🔵 Blue Bin – Dry Waste: Recyclable materials including paper, plastic, glass, metal, and cardboard.
🔴 Red Bin – Domestic Hazardous Waste: Batteries, medicines, chemicals, bulbs, and other hazardous household items.
⚫ Black Bin – Sanitary Waste: Sanitary napkins, diapers, bandages, and other sanitary waste requiring safe disposal.
To further support menstrual hygiene and women’s health, Sanitary Pad Dispensing Machines along with Incinerators were installed at Lower Lingzey Secondary School and Lower Sumin Secondary School. This initiative will help create a safer, healthier, and more dignified environment for girl students while ensuring the scientific disposal of sanitary waste.
The programme emphasized that cleanliness is not merely a responsibility of the government but a shared duty of every citizen. Participants were encouraged to reduce plastic use, practice waste segregation at home and school, maintain hygienic surroundings, and actively contribute towards environmental protection.
The programme was successfully conducted with the active support and participation of the 28th Sumin Lingzey GPU staff, including the Respected Lower Lingzey Ward Panchayat Member, AD (PRI) Sir, VAA Sir, PAA Sir, GRS Sir, BFE Sir, and other officials and staff members. Their dedication, guidance, and collective efforts greatly contributed to the success of the programme and inspired participants to support the vision of a cleaner, greener, and healthier community.
The 28th Sumin Lingzey GPU extends its heartfelt gratitude to Lower Lingzey Secondary School, Lower Sumin Secondary School, Health & Wellness Centre (Middle Sumin), Upper Sumin School, teachers, students, officials, and community members for their wholehearted cooperation and enthusiastic participation, which made the programme a grand success.
