The Bisle Ghat is an incredibly unique place. The Bisle reserve forest is made up of a mosaic of ecosystems and vegetation types. It is also famed for its biodiversity. It has rich forest cover, rivers, small streams, hills, valleys and small waterfalls. The Kumaradhara River, a tributary of the River Netravathi runs through this Bisle reserve forest.
South of Bisle Village lies Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary of somwarpet taluk in Coorg district and towards the North is Subramanya forest range of Sullia taluk in Dakshina Kannada. Bisle forest is located deep inside the evergreen rain forests of Western Ghats.
Around 5 km west of Bisle village is a scenic spot called Bisle View Point, which offers a panoramic mountain range view of 3 districts: Kumara Parvatha (1319 meter) of Dakshina Kannada district, Pushpagiri (1712 meter) and Dodda Betta (1119 meter) of Kodagu district, and Patla Betta (1112 meter) and Enni Kallu (900 meter) of Hassan district. The highlight of this point is that the view has a valley, with Kumaradhara River separating the beauty point and these mountain ranges. The forest department has erected a viewing platform with a sun-shade to sit and enjoy the view.
The thick forest is home of king cobras, tigers (rarely seen), elephants, Sambar deer, peacocks, numerous species of birds, Spotted deer, brown fox and Mahasheer fish, not to mention a number of flora and fauna which can only be found in this region of Western Ghats. The rare Nilgiri marten (Martes gwatkinsii) was sighted recently in Bisle forest.
