Today, our services wireline, Mobile 2G-3G (post paid and pre paid), WLL, ISDN, IN services, Internet, Broad band, leased circuits and MPLS-VPN, etc. are being provided not only in important towns but also in remotely located rural areas. Thus, in BSNL we are contributing our bit in the development of J&K State and thereby the country. J&K Telecom Circle is equipped with wireline capacity of 4.08 lakh telephone lines with 2.03 lakh connections. There are 0.76 lakh WLL connections against capacity of 1.89 lakh lines. In GSM Mobile we have about 10.12 lakh connections. The expansion of GSM Mobile is being carried out. We intend to cover whole of population areas of J&K state in a year or so. On customer satisfaction, we have introduced CDR based billing in all the five SSAs of J&K Telecom Circle. With the implementation of CDR in J&K Telecom Circle subscriber can pay their landline bills anywhere in J&K or even anywhere in North Zone at our Cash counters. WLL & Postpaid bills can be paid through CBPs at our retail outlets in addition to payment through our cash counters. Further BSNL has priced wire line STD calls at local calls resulting into 40 Paise per minute call across the country. At present 70 Customer service centers are working in the J&K Circle. We have a large sales & distribution network through franchisees/ sub- franchisees/ retailers/ STD-PCO Shoppies/ DSA outlets to attend to customer requirements for various telecom products & services including Bill payments. Thus we indirectly support more than 22000 persons by way of employment to them. With the introduction of latest technologies in the switching (commissioning of 20K IP TAX at Jammu and 8K IP TAX at Srinagar) and transmission system, there is improvement in the services in urban and rural areas. Remote places are now accessible due to increased use of transmission media on optical fiber and satellite systems. We are fully aware that lot more need to be done for improvement in telecom services in both urban as well as rural areas.
