*J&K police organises Awareness programmes and Enforcement Activities in Bandipora*

*May 21:* ```Continuing its series of events under the ongoing Nasha Muqt Jammu and Kashmir campaign, J&K Police organised an awareness programme at PP Ajas, where local residents of the Ajas area were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse and its adverse impact on society, especially on youth.

During the programme, officers highlighted the importance of community participation in eradicating the drug menace and urged the public to cooperate with Police in identifying and reporting drug-related activities. Meanwhile, Police Station Hajin also conducted a market checking drive in the Hajin area. During the drive, several medical shops were inspected in connection with the illegal sale of narcotic drugs and other substances prone to abuse. The medical shop owners were sensitised regarding the legal provisions related to narcotic drugs and were advised to strictly adhere to prescribed norms while dispensing medicines.

In another significant action, eight bailed-out drug peddlers were bound down by Police under preventive measures and were produced before the Executive Magistrates to ensure close monitoring of their activities and to deter their involvement in drug-related offences.```

Police Conducts Awareness Programmes, Market Checking and Preventive Action Against Drug Peddlers Under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan In Bandipora

May 20: Continuing its sustained efforts against drug abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, police in Bandipora organised an awareness programme at Government Higher Secondary School Ajas.
During the programme, police officers interacted with students and staff members and highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse on individuals, families and society.

As part of the ongoing anti-drug drive, Bandipora Police also conducted a market checking operation in Hajin Market to check the illegal sale and distribution of narcotic substances. During the operation, several shops were inspected to ensure strict compliance with the law and to prevent any unlawful activities related to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Moreover, Police Station Sumbal facilitated an educational visit of various school students to Police Station Sumbal. During the visit, students were briefed about the overall functioning of the police station and different aspects of policing. The students were also shown the rogue gallery and were sensitised about the harmful effects and legal consequences of drug abuse and criminal activities.

In continuation of the preventive measures against drug trafficking, Police also bound down 18 drug peddlers after obtaining warrants from the concerned Executive Magistrates. The action was taken as part of the ongoing crackdown against individuals involved in drug-related activities in the district.

16 drug peddlers bound down, awareness programme conducted under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan

May 19: Continuing its sustained crackdown against the drug menace under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Police in Bandipora, in coordination with the Revenue, Agriculture and Excise Departments, carried out joint operations in different areas of the district and destroyed illegally cultivated poppy crops on the spot.

A joint operation was conducted in the Ashtangoo Ghat area falling under the jurisdiction of PP Aloosa of Police Station Bandipora, during which illegal poppy cultivation was identified and destroyed.

In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 68/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bandipora.

Similarly, another joint operation was conducted in the Dardpora Arin area falling under the jurisdiction of PP Sumlar of Police Station Bandipora in coordination with the Revenue, Agriculture and Excise Departments. During the operation, illegally cultivated poppy crops were destroyed on the spot.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 67/2026 has also been registered at Police Station Bandipora.

Meanwhile, as part of the preventive and awareness initiatives under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, an awareness programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary School Kaloosa, Bandipora. The programme witnessed active participation of a large number of students and members of the teaching faculty.

During the programme, officers highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse on individuals, families and society, and urged students to stay away from narcotics and act as ambassadors against drug abuse in their communities.

In addition, taking strong action against drug peddlers, J&K Police produced 16 notorious drug peddlers before the Executive Magistrate and got them bound down under preventive measures to deter them from indulging in illegal narcotics-related activities.

Bandipora, May 18, 2026:
Continuing its sustained efforts to curb drug abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a drug awareness programme was today conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Quilmuqam in jd of PP Aloosa.

The programme witnessed active participation from students and teaching staff. During the session, speakers highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse, emphasizing the importance of leading a healthy and drug-free life. Students were sensitized about the social, psychological, and legal consequences associated with substance abuse.

In addition, Police Station Aragam facilitated an educational visit of students to the Police Station as part of the awareness initiative. During the visit, students were familiarized with the functioning of the police station and various aspects of policing.
The students were also taken around the rogue’s gallery maintained at the police station, where they were informed about the consequences of criminal activities and the importance of staying on the right path.
The initiative was well received by the participants and is part of the continuous outreach efforts by Bandipora Police to engage with youth and spread awareness against drug abuse.
