Tamenglong, March 28, 2026: The Indian Red Cross Society's Tamenglong District Branch was officially launched by Dr. L. Angshim Dangshawa, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong at the ZEF Hall. This was followed by a CPR demonstration and first aid tips.

Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong who is also an ex-officio President of Indian Red Cross Society Tamenglong branch activated IRCS Tamenglong District Branch today during its 1st Annual General Meeting. IRCS Tamenglong District Managing Committee is constituted with Dr Chambo Gonmei (Retd) as Chairman, Charles Liangdiang as Vice Chairman and KC Huduan as honorary Treasurer of the committee along with 10 other members. Further, Shri Nehemiah Panmei has been appointed as Secretary of the Executive Committee, and Mr Akinsin Gangmei as Youth Coordinator. For the post of Vice President, all the members agreed upon Shri Gaigongdin Panmei, IRS (Retd) to take up the responsibility. It was decided during the meeting that formal program of launching District Branch will be conducted in the last week of March.

28.02.2026 Special Cataract Eye Screening and Surgery for Senior Citizens(60 years and above) under Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVAY) scheme were conducted and concluded successfully at District Hospital, Tamenglong. Camps were also conducted at Oinamlong (Tousem) and Tamei wherein senior citizens from the areas have availed the benefits and completed the cataract eye surgery.
The programme is being jointly organized by District Administration, District Social Welfare Office, District Health Society, NPCB & VI Tamenglong.

The first training session for football discipline under Khelo India Centre scheme Tamenglong started today morning at 6:00 AM at the mini-stadium Tamenglong Hq. This initiative is bound to bring about a significant change in the sporting landscape of the district. For this session, 30 children including 10 girls have been selected and they will be trained by certified coach. The scheme not only provides basic requirements like dress and kits, but also aimed to screen and select brilliant players through its Targetted Olympic Podium scheme (TOPS).
