Today, the second day of Census 2027 training for the census functionaries of Tamulpur District was conducted at the Conference Hall of the Office of the District Commissioner, Tamulpur. The training session was attended by the District Census Officer, the Additional District Census Officer, and the Sub-Divisional/Charge Officers responsible for the rural areas and the Municipal Board, Technical Assistants etc.

The first phase of training for Census 2027 in Tamulpur District was inaugurated on 2 June 2026 and will continue till 4 June 2026.
The training programme was formally inaugurated by Smt. Simi Karan,IAS, District Commissioner cm Principal Census Officer,Tamulpur. The session was attended by various census functionaries, District Census Officer, Addl. Census Officer, Charge Officers for rural areas, Charge Officers for Municipal Boards, Addl Charge Officers, Technical Assistants etc.
Two resource persons from the State have been deputed for the district training programme, namely Dr. K. S. Singh,Consultant( Ex Joint Director) and Siddharth Kumar,SI-II. They are conducting technical sessions on various aspects of Census operations and procedures.
The training aims to equip census functionaries with the necessary knowledge and skills for the successful implementation of Census 2027 activities in the district.

Census, one of the largest administrative exercises in the world, is conducted to enumerate every household and collect comprehensive economic, demographic, and social data at a specified point in time.
In the State of Assam, the process of self-enumeration is scheduled from 2nd August to 16th August. Self-enumeration is a newly introduced facility whereby, for the first time, households are given the option to independently submit their details through the designated online portal. The portal will be accessible in Assamese and 16 other languages to ensure inclusivity and ease of use. Respondents are required to carefully fill in all relevant details, including their mobile phone number, to successfully complete the process. A step-by-step guide for completing the self-enumeration process is provided in the diagram below for reference.
Households that complete the self-enumeration process will not be required to provide all details again during the subsequent phase. During the House Listing operation, scheduled from 17th August to 15th September (30 days), such households will only need to furnish their Self-Enumeration ID (SEID) to the Enumerator during the field visit. The Enumerator will verify the SEID and update the information in the official Census database accordingly.
