Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer affairs, Tawang District kick started a week long consumer awareness drive “Consumer Saapta” for Tawang district. The occassion was graced by Ld. Registrar of Guwahati High Court Shri. Lobsang Tenzin sir along with District Consumer protection officer Shri. Kesang Tashi.

National Consumer Day 2025 Celebrated in Tawang

The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs, Tawang District, celebrated National Consumer Day 2025 with great enthusiasm. The event was held at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Tawang and saw active participation from students, teachers, and local residents.

District Consumer Protection Officer cm Inspector Legal Metrology Shri Kesang Tashi, kick-started the program with a warm welcome and a brief introduction. He highlighted the significance of National Consumer Day and shed light on the history of consumer rights activities. He also discussed the various rights bestowed upon consumers under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

The event featured two esteemed guest speakers: Adv. Lobsang Tsering and Adv. Lham Dorjee from the District Legal Service Authority (DLSA). Adv. Lobsang Tsering, a renowned consumer advocate, shared his experiences and highlighted notable cases he has handled over the years. Adv. Lham Dorjee focused on consumer awareness and walked the audience through the procedure of filing consumer complaints, explaining various sections of the Act.

The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, Tawang, inspected -Baleh, a bakery unit under Timilo Boutique Hotel, Tawang District focusing on consumer safety, food hygiene, and the importance of packaging in the bakery industry, and issued a Legal Metrology Packer License to the unit, which is mandatory for manufacturing, packing, or importing pre-packaged commodities in India.
