Success Story of our OSC:
On 24.09.2020 in the morning we got a call from 181-WHL, about a victim named Mary (name changed) who was been harassed, tortured and assaulted by her husband and her mother-in-law. And the victim needed urgent help from us, with the help of Chariduar Police Station we rescued the victim and her 9-month old baby from her Marital home and brought her to Police station. Our Caseworkers interacted with the victim and provided her Psycho-Social counselling. The victim did not wanted to file an F.I.R. against her husband or mother in law, she just wants separation from her Husband. Our Caseworkers also met her husband who was been called by the Police Officials, he has accepted of beating her. The Police Officials contacted her family members and let the victim talk about her whereabouts and since it's pandemic it was difficult to find taxi for her family to reach Sonitpur District as the Victim belongs to Meghalaya District. So our Caseworkers thought of taking her to our OSC and provide her shelter till her family reaches.
At 7:30 PM we got a call from her family member that they are on their way and have reached Nagaon, and the victim was very happy to hear that. At 11 PM the Victim's family member alongwith two Women Police Officials of Nongpoh Police Station reached our OSC.
OSC did all the formalities regarding handing over the victim's responsibilities to her family. And wished her for a Bright future ahead and lots of Love and blessings to the Little One.

Successful Story:

The victim Pinki Das(name changed) aged 16yrs old was rescued by the localities and was handed over to Hathyabari Police Station, Barpeta. The victim belongs to Jamuguri, Sonitpur District. The victim's parents filed a kidnapping case in Jamuguri PS five months ago. The victim got married to Jahangir (name changed), who belongs from Village- Besimari Pump, PS- Hathyabari, District- Barpeta. The boy had lied about his identity as well as his caste, he told his name to be Lucky Sharma to her. They eloped together on March 16th, 2020 from Jamuguri to Jorabat and stayed there for three days at the boy's friend's room. On 19th March, 2020 they went to Barpeta to his village. When the victim reached his place she came to know the real identity of him. The victim had an argument with him for lying to her. Since then she has been kept under their surveillance and at night used to lock the house. On 3rd August 2020, she eloped from their place as she found the keys at 4:16 AM, they followed her and feared that the victim entered an unknown person's place and told them each and everything. The family helped her by calling to the nearby police station and handed her over to them. The Hathyabari Police brought her to Tezpur Sadar Thana and they referred to Jamuguri Police Station. The Jamuguri Police took her for Covid Test to TMCH as per protocol and handed her over to Sakhi OSC, Sonitpur at 8:54PM on 3rd August 2020.

The victim was given shelter in our OSC for 2 nights and 3 days. Today by 1:40 PM, she was taken to the court alongwith Jamuguri Police officials and her mother for her statement but in the statement she has mentioned that she do not want to stay at her home as she feared her father and brother might harm her. Seeing the matter the Magistrate ordered that the victim must be given counseling as she needs care and protection. The victim was handed over to Jamuguri Police Officials at 5:40PM today i.e, 5th of August, 2020 and she was been taken to Children Home, Nikamul, Sonitpur.
