# # 🚨 What Are the Red Flags or Warning Signals in Hand Fractures? ✋

A hand fracture may seem minor at first, especially if there's no bleeding or you're still able to move your fingers. However, delaying medical attention can lead to serious complications.

⚠️ **Watch out for these warning signs:**
✔️ Severe pain that doesn't improve even after taking painkillers
✔️ Fingertips that appear pale, bluish, dark, or black instead of pink
✔️ Numbness or reduced sensation in the fingertips
✔️ Excessive swelling, even after a minor injury
✔️ Fingers twisting or overlapping while making a fist (malrotation)

🖐️ **Open or Crush Injury to the Hand? Here's What You Should Do!**

One of the biggest mistakes people make after a hand injury is applying **turmeric (haldi), chuna, or other household remedies** to stop the bleeding.

❌ **Please don't do this.**

Although these remedies are commonly used, they can stick to the nerves, tendons, and bones, making surgery much more difficult if surgery is needed and increasing the risk of infection.

✅ Instead:
• Rinse the injured hand under clean running tap water for **30 seconds** to reduce contamination.
• Apply an antiseptic ointment if available.
• Cover the wound with a **loose dressing**.
• Keep the hand elevated to help reduce bleeding.
• Visit a hand surgeon or the nearest hospital as soon as possible.
