GHODBUNDER ROAD:Temporary traffic diversions have been made in the Mullabag area on Ghodbunder Road to expedite the work of the Thane -Borivali TWIN TUNNEL Due to these diversions, some roads have been closed & alternative routes have been identified for motorists. These traffic restrictions will remain in force for the next two months and the Thane Traffic Police has appealed to citizens to use alternative routes to avoid congestion and accidents at work sites. It has also been appealed to motorists to cooperate with the administration by following traffic rules.

Civic.Addl.Comm. Sandeep Malvi honored by Journalists Association.
THANE: Civic Additional Commissioner Sandeep Malvi, who served in Thane Municipal Corporation for 21 years, was honored on Thursday by the Thane City Daily Journalists Association.All journalists were present in large numbers at the program organized at the Thane Municipal Corporation's press room. On this occasion, Mr.Malvi was felicitated by Thane City Daily Journalists Association's newly elected President Dilip Shinde & Thane District Journalists Association President Sanjay Pitale. Along with this, the association also wished him for his future journey on the occasion of his retirement.
Sandeep Malvi, who joined Thane Municipal Corporation in 2005, has served in various designations for the past 21 years. He worked as a Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner & Additional Commissioner. He maintained effective coordination between the administration & journalists.He retired on Friday (July 31) while serving as Addl. Commissioner. He was honored for his service by the Thane City Daily Journalists Association President Dilip Shinde informed about the cooperation of Sandeep Malvi to journalists. He said that his contribution to the press room will never be forgotten. Thane District Journalists Association President Sanjay Pitale thanked him for his contribution to journalists during the Covid period. On this occasion other journalists too praised his work. Journalists mentioned that he was always available while interacting with journalists & used to provide transparent information about the functioning of the administration.
Sandeep Malvi shared about how he was his challenging journey to the additional Comm.post. "While working in Thane Municipal Corporation, I treated journalists with authority. I maintained a sense of friendship with them. The role of journalists is important in reaching the public. Even after retirement, I will try to do something for journalists & Thane City," expressed his thoughts. On this occasion, Public Relations Officer Prachi Dingankar, retired District Information Officer Sadashiv Kamble & journalists of Thane City Dainik Journalists Association were present in large numbers.

Thane: The vigilance of Thane City Traffic Police has foiled a major drug smuggling plot. Dried o***m pods (poppy seeds) worth Rs 35 lakh 70 thousand 720 have been seized from a Rajasthan passing car that was chased and caught by two transport employees at the Golden Dyes checkpoint. In this case, a case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Kapurbavdi Police Station and the car driver has been arrested, while his accomplice has fled. This was informed by Kapurbavdi Traffic Sub-Division Police Inspector Shrikant Sonde. At Kapurbawdi Junction, Golden Dyes Naka on July 22 at around 4 pm, Traffic Police Constable Sachin Kharade and female police officer Mayuri Pawar were regulating traffic. At that time, they noticed that suspicious bags were being carried in a black Rajasthan Passing car passing on the Nashik-Mumbai route. When they signaled to stop the car, the driver fled without stopping the vehicle. Alerted, Kharade and Pawar chased and stopped the car. There were two people in the car. Among them, Isam, who was sitting next to the driver, took the opportunity to escape, while the driver was also trying to escape. However, both the traffic police caught him and brought him to the Kapurbawdi Traffic Sub-Divisional Office. While inspecting the car, a suspicious stock of dried o***m pods (poppy seeds) was found in the bags kept on the seat and in the trunk. The matter was reported to the seniors and then immediately informed the Anti-Narcotics Squad. Accordingly, under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sachin Gaikwad of the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Assistant Police Inspector Somnath Karnawar-Patil, Police Sub-Inspector Dummalwad and their team inspected the car in front of the panch at the spot. The arrested driver gave his name as Sitaram Ramniwas Prajapati. After the panchnama, a stock of suspected narcotics weighing about 150 kg and worth approximately Rs 35 lakh 70 thousand 720 was seized along with the car. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act in this case at the Kapurbawdi police station and the absconding accused is being searched. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Department Pankaj Shirsat praised the brave and alert performance of Police Constable Sachin Kharade and female police staff Mayuri Pawar. He also said that both the staff will be felicitated by Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare & Joint Police Commissioner Dr. Dnyaneshwar Chavan.

Nilesh Mandlik, Secretary Rajiv Dake, and Joint - Secretary Prasad Sakat were all elected unopposed.
Thane: On Sunday Dilip Shinde won the position of President of the renowned Thane City Daily Journalists Association with a landslide victory taking over the leadership of the association. Meanwhile, in a closely contested election for the Working President position, Deepak Shelar defeated his rival Vikas Kate,earning the title of "Giant Killer." Rajesh Shetkar also made history by winning the Treasurer position unopposed.The voting process, held at the late Narendra Ballal Hall of the Thane Municipal Corporation, received a surprising response from members. To ensure a transparent and fair election process, Mahesh Rajderkar, a retired Thane Municipal Corporation official, served as the Election Officer, while Prachi Dingankar served as the Assistant Election Officer. Prachi's entire team was instrumental in the election process. The Presidential race was closely contested between Dilip Shinde, Amol Pawar, Deepak Dalvi, and Suresh Salve. Dilip Shinde won with 71 votes, while Deepak Dalvi received 50 votes.Deepak Shelar won the Working President election with 75 votes defeating Vikas Kate (50). Rajesh Shetkar won the Treasurer election with 77 votes, defeating Rahul Kshirsagar (47). Meanwhile,Nilesh Mandlik was elected Vice President,Rajiv Dake Secretary and Prasad Sakat Joint Secretary without any opposition. Nikesh Shardul (90), Gajanan Harimkar (71), Amar Rajbhar (65), Sachin Deshmane (58), Nitin Dudhsagar (55), and Prafulla Gangurde (54) won the election for six executive member positions. GB.ROAD:A gas tanker overturned completely on an autorickshaw on the Thane Lane side of Ghodbunder Road D-Mart in Kavesar, Anand Nagar, at arnd 1 PM on Wednesday. The auto - rickshaw driver & one passenger died, while another passenger sustained serious injuries and was being hospitalised in a private hospital in Owala. Police & traffic officials used a crane to remove the tanker cleared the road & Traffic transit was restored.Further an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Commuters should drive cautiously around heavy vehicles and remain alert on the Ghodbunder Road specifically in monsoon season.
