Scientific research has revealed that substance abuse and digital addiction pose significant challenges for the younger generation, including school-going children and young adults. In response to this concern, DREAM Kollam organized an awareness program at GHSS Punalur, involving 112 students in the training initiative.

On the occasion of the 77th Indian Independence Day, Don Bosco Sadan in Monvila observed a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Rev. Fr. Philip Parakatt, the Rector. During his speech, he highlighted that this is a moment for citizens to unite, reflect on the nation's history, and pay homage to those who played a role in achieving independence. The event was enriched by patriotic speeches and cultural performances presented by the staff and residents of Don Bosco Rehabilitation Centre, Monvila, adding vibrancy to the celebration.

Sending warm wishes on this significant day of Independence, as well as on the feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary, who embodies true freedom.

DREAM STATE LEVEL REVIEW CUM STAFF TRAINING

The DREAM program in Kerala held its state-level review cm staff training at Don Bosco Monvila on 4-5 August 2023. The event brought together staff and directors to discuss progress and enhance skills in addressing drug abuse among children and youth.

Inaugurated by Shri Mahipal Yadhav IPS, the Excise Commissioner of Kerala, who emphasized the importance of protecting children from abuse. Esteemed guests included Shri Premkumar S (General Manager, Canara Bank), Fr. George PS (Executive Director, BREADS Bangalore), and others.

The centers presented activity reports and action plans, followed by interactive sessions to improve DREAM activities. Training included sessions on managing addiction challenges, advocacy strategies, and project impact assessment. The event proved fruitful, enhancing skills to combat drug abuse and create a safe environment for Kerala's youth.

DREAM KASARAGOD has celebrated the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at GHS Pullur Eriya. The program has been inaugurated by the PTA president Mr.Shaji P, followed by the felicitation of Headmistress Mrs . Sholy Mathew. The session was handled by Mr. Nibin Mathew (social worker), and Ms. Aiswarya Joseph (counsellor).

“People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention” The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse. This year aims to combat stigma and discrimination against people who use drugs by promoting language and attitudes that are respectful and non-judgmental.

A quiz competition was held for the students to create awareness about the drug issues that have been escalating in society. Prizes were awarded to the winners. The team witnessed a huge number of participants.

The world drug problem is a complex issue that affects millions of people worldwide. Many people who use drugs face stigma and discrimination, which can further harm their physical and mental health and prevent them from accessing the help they need.

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2023 was observed with the theme "People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention". Don Bosco Veedu Society in association with DREAM Trivandrum observed the day by organizing the program "Oppam" at Government ITI chukka.

The program was inaugurated by Shri Deepak Dhenker IPS and presided over by Fr Dominic Kaniyantharayil SDB, Asst Director Don Bosco Nivas.

The programs went attractive with a skit by the Beneficiary of the AWAKE project by the Don Bosco Veedu Society, an Exhibition at the college, a Live Quiz competition, and taking an anti-drug oath.

As it is now more important than ever to stop the major issue that is ruining our society, effective solutions for curbing drug abuse should be devised and further pinned down with appropriate measures. Bringing the issue to the forefront of the era, DREAM Wayanad observed anti-drug day on June 26th at the Sulthan Bathery municipal bus stand in collaboration with the Social work department of Don Bosco College, the Excise Department, the National Health Mission, Janamaithri Police Sulthan Bathery, and the Sulthan Bathery municipality.

Awareness materials were given to all travelers, shopkeepers, bus workers, auto drivers, and the general public. The campaign was initiated with a street play by the DREAM volunteers, which received warm applause for depicting the hazardous nature of drug abuse. During the event, the Deputy Excise Commissioner of Wayanad, Sri. Shaji KS, flew the dove, symbolizing peace, which is inevitable for our humankind.

The presidential address was given by Sri. K. M. Saji, Health Supervisor of Sulthan Bathery municipality, delivered a wonderful message that should be conveyed in this situation. A Civil Police Officer, Sri. Jebin Joy delivered felicitations and provided a pledge against drugs that were owed by the public. Sri. Ranjith R. V., Branch head of Federal Bank Sulthan Bathery, delivered felicitations at the function.

An open quiz competition for the public to create awareness about drugs was also conducted, and correct answers were awarded. Huge participation was received for the same. The campaign was so influential that a lot of people appreciated the effort.

The International Anti-Drug Abuse Day Campaign was organized by DREAM Thrissur on 26th June 2023 to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society. The campaign aimed to educate the community about the consequences of drug addiction and highlight preventive measures to combat substance abuse.

A lively and energetic flash mob performance was conducted by the students from the Department of Social Work, Christ College Irinjalakuda. The flash mob aimed to capture the attention of the audience and create awareness about the campaign against drug abuse through dance and music. NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteers performed a theme dance representing the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free society.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated on June 26, 2023, with diverse events conducted in unity by DREAM Kochi, District Social Justice Department, and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The day was flagged off with a Flash Mob organized by the students of the Department of Social Work from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous) and Bharat Matha College in the esteemed presence of several dignitaries. With Smt. Smitha M.V. addressing the audience, and Smt. Rajani Mani delivered the presidential address, and the ceremony was inaugurated by Smt. Sheeba Lal, Welfare Standing Committee Chairperson, Cochin Corporation conveyed the importance of the occasion with a message.

Following the inauguration, Dr. Anish K. R., Sri. Francis Moothedan and Sri. Shibin Shaji Varghese greeted the crowd. The rally began shortly after the vote of thanks by Smt. Sabeena Begum, Dist Probation Officer Students holding placards bearing the slogan marched to the Renew Centre where the seminar took place. Dr. Anish K. R. and Sri. Francis Moothedan, the resource person of the day, fulfilled their duty by providing a clear picture of the problem and how to address them. The event was a great opportunity for us to share, discuss and work with the public about the issues and how to face them for a better future for our children and youth.

DREAM Alappuzha is celebrating this anti-drug drug by organizing different programs for the week. On 25th June DREAM Alappuzha and Sajeevam Alappuzha conducted an awareness session for students at different parisheses of the Alappuzha diocese and distributed Leaflets in all parishes of the Alappuzha diocese.

On 26th June as part of creating awareness DREAM Alappuzha conducted an awareness session for students at St. Joseph English Medium School Pollatheil, GVHSS Thalavady & GHSS Thalavady based on the theme"People first:stop stigma and discrimination, Strengthen prevention" The theme of the year is a well recommended thought which can tremendously influence the society.

It is the need of the world to avoid stigma related to spreading awareness as well as treating related to substance abuse. It is really important to take care of each and every everyvwhoowho ne is under the disease ADDICTION rather than discriminate against ng them frbyociety.

Prevention is better than cure. Addiction is an incurable disease and we know that once an addict is always an addict so we should be careful enough in preventing our young generation from the hands of drugs.

As part of ending the anti-drug week DREAM Alappuzha in association with Sajeevam Alappuzha organized Musical Drama in 3 schools and a college.

On the occasion of World Anti-Drug Day 2023, the DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring) organization, in association with the Excise Department Kozhikode, NSS Unit Number 321, Anti-Drug Sell - DON BOSCO COLLEGE Mambetta, and ALUXILUM NAVA JYOTHI SCHOOL Kunnamangalam, organized an Awareness Rally and Public Meeting.

The gathering was welcomed by Mr. Athul N Jhony, the District Coordinator of DREAM Kozhikode. The program was inaugurated by Mr. V Rajendran, the District Deputy Excise Commissioner. Mrs. Liji Pulkunnummal, the President of Kunnamangalam Gram Panchayat, and Mr. A K Benjamin, the Assistant Excise Commissioner, congratulated the function.

Students from DON BOSCO COLLEGE Mambetta performed a mime, and students from ALUXILUM NAVA JYOTHI SCHOOL presented a special program. The function was greeted by Mr. Ashraf A, Sub Inspector of Police Kunnamangalam, Mr. Ramesh P, Excise Inspector Kunnamangalam, and Mr. Joy KC, Project Coordinator COD. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Abhishek Immanuel.
