As it is now more important than ever to stop the major issue that is ruining our society, effective solutions for curbing drug abuse should be devised and further pinned down with appropriate measures. Bringing the issue to the forefront of the era, DREAM Wayanad observed anti-drug day on June 26th at the Sulthan Bathery municipal bus stand in collaboration with the Social work department of Don Bosco College, the Excise Department, the National Health Mission, Janamaithri Police Sulthan Bathery, and the Sulthan Bathery municipality.
Awareness materials were given to all travelers, shopkeepers, bus workers, auto drivers, and the general public. The campaign was initiated with a street play by the DREAM volunteers, which received warm applause for depicting the hazardous nature of drug abuse. During the event, the Deputy Excise Commissioner of Wayanad, Sri. Shaji KS, flew the dove, symbolizing peace, which is inevitable for our humankind.
The presidential address was given by Sri. K. M. Saji, Health Supervisor of Sulthan Bathery municipality, delivered a wonderful message that should be conveyed in this situation. A Civil Police Officer, Sri. Jebin Joy delivered felicitations and provided a pledge against drugs that were owed by the public. Sri. Ranjith R. V., Branch head of Federal Bank Sulthan Bathery, delivered felicitations at the function.
An open quiz competition for the public to create awareness about drugs was also conducted, and correct answers were awarded. Huge participation was received for the same. The campaign was so influential that a lot of people appreciated the effort.
