A Legacy of Giving. A Heritage Renewed.

The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) proudly inaugurated the renovated Emerald Hostel on 5 August 2026, celebrating not just the restoration of one of its iconic student residences, but also the enduring spirit of alumni giving and institutional pride.

The transformation was made possible through the 2000 Batch Reunion Fund (Hostel Renovation), with a total contribution of ₹50 lakhs, including a generous ₹25 lakh contribution from Mr. Venkat Venkataramani (CSE, 2000).

What makes this initiative even more special is the inspiring legacy behind it. Mr. Venkat Venkataramani's father, Mr. K. Venkataramani (Mechanical, 1972), is also a distinguished alumnus of NIT Trichy. Together, they represent two generations united by a shared commitment to giving back to their alma mater—an inspiring testament to the values of gratitude, service, and philanthropy nurtured at NIT Tiruchirappalli.

Designed to preserve the heritage character of Emerald Hostel while enhancing the quality of student life, the renovation included comprehensive weather-proof coating, complete interior and exterior painting, renovation of student toilets, minor plastering, and essential masonry and carpentry repairs across rooms, restrooms, and common areas. The project has revitalized one of the institute's cherished hostels, creating a safer, more comfortable, and welcoming living environment for present and future generations of students.

NIT Tiruchirappalli extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. K. Venkataramani, Mr. Venkat Venkataramani, and the Batch of 2000 for their remarkable generosity and unwavering commitment to their alma mater. Their contribution is more than an investment in infrastructure—it is an investment in the student experience and in preserving the legacy of NIT Trichy for years to come.

When alumni give back, they do more than renovate buildings—they preserve memories, strengthen traditions, and inspire future generations.

Together, we preserve our heritage. Together, we build the future.
