NSS Community Outreach Programme | Day 4 | activity 02 l 03.09.2026

NSS volunteers of DIET Jorhat, Titabar, presented a street play on Road Safety to sensitise the public on traffic rules, road signs and signals, safe road-use practices and personal safety. The initiative conveyed a strong message: “Follow Traffic Rules, Stay Alert, Save Lives.” Responsible road behaviour is a collective responsibility for safer communities.

NSS Community Outreach Programme | Day 4 | activity:01 l 03.09.2026

NSS Unit DIET Jorhat, Titabar, conducted a Disaster Management Awareness and Demonstration Programme at Government Practising Senior Basic School, Titabor. NSS volunteers demonstrated basic disaster preparedness skills and guided students in preparing a life jacket using plastic bottles, promoting practical safety skills, resourcefulness and the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

NSS Unit, DIET Jorhat, Titabar, organised a commemorative programme on the occasion of the birth day of legendary athlete Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah, observing State Sports Day.

A Lecture on his life, sports achievement and significant contribution to athletics in Assam and India was delivered, highlighting his enduring legacy and inspiring sporting values among learners.

NSS Community Outreach Programme | Day 3 | 02.09.2026

As part of the ongoing Community Outreach Programme,NSS Unit, DIET Jorhat, Titabar, organised a series of community-oriented awareness and Swachhata activities.

NSS volunteers conducted an awareness programme on the POCSO Act and prevention of child marriage under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan at PM SHRI MRS School, Titabar. A second team conducted awareness sessions on digital literacy and cyber security at Government Practising Senior Basic School and visited door to door at Tantigaon.

As part of the Swachhata initiative, volunteers undertook cleaning of a bus stop and collected single-use plastic waste from areas surrounding the DIET campus, reinforcing the objectives of cleanliness, environmental responsibility and community participation.

NSS Community Outreach Programme | Day 2 | 01.09.2026

The NSS Unit, DIET Jorhat, Titabor, organised an Awareness Programme on waste Segregation and Plastic-Free Society through door-to-door community outreach and public interaction across villages and local areas of Titabor and Jorhat. NSS volunteers sensitised community members on the adverse effects of single-use plastics, source-level waste segregation, proper waste disposal, and adoption of sustainable practices. The initiative aimed to strengthen environmental responsibility and community participation towards a cleaner, healthier and sustainable society. A total of 45 households covered during the campaign.

Inauguration of Community Outreach Programme

The NSS Unit, DIET Jorhat, Titabor, inaugurated a Community Outreach Programme in the presence of faculty members.
NSS volunteers were assigned various tasks for Day 1 with the objective of establishing a baseline for the programme. They conducted a door-to-door survey in nearby villages to assess household practices related to waste management, composting, and the disposal of single-use plastics.The volunteers also conducted awareness activities on Census and produced an awareness video on “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat”, highlighting the importance of a healthy, responsible, and drug-free youth for a developed India.

🏑 National Sports Day 2026 🏆

On the occasion of National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, the Principal, faculty members and NSS volunteers paid heartfelt tribute to the sporting icon.

A friendly recreational sports programme and push up challenge were organised for students to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle. The winners were felicitated with trophies and medals.

🏅 National Sports Day 2026 | Day 1

As part of the Celebration of National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, the “Wizard of Hockey,” a recreational sports activity “Tunnel Ball Relay” was organised among students on 28 August 2026.

The activity promoted teamwork, coordination, agility, cooperation and healthy competition among the participants.

The celebration is being conducted under the theme “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat” and the three pillars Tribute • Play • Move, encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.
