Two-day course on “Ethics and Soft Skills” which commenced at SKPA on 29.05.2026, culminated today i.e. on 30.05.2026. A total of 23 officers of J&K Police participated in the training programme.
The programme highlighted the importance of ethical conduct, effective communication, empathy and interpersonal skills in policing. As first responders in the criminal justice system, police personnel must attend to crime victims with patience, sensitivity and promptness. Participants were sensitized to treat victims and complainants with compassion and respect, recognizing their right to access justice and receive timely assistance. The broad contours of police-public interaction were also discussed, emphasizing that trust, mutual respect and transparency are essential for strengthening police-community relations and ensuring effective service delivery. Eminent guest faculty from SMVDU and Central University were invited to deliver lectures on themes relevant to the course. .
A valedictory function was organized on the occasion. Shri Rajesh Kumar, IPS, Dy. Director, SKPA attended as the Chief Guest and advised the participants to adopt a people-friendly approach in the discharge of their duties and to disseminate the knowledge gained during the course among their fellow police personnel.

The valedictory function of two training programmes, i.e. the GOs Refresher Course and Investigation of Traffic Accident Cases held today at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA). The occasion was graced by Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma IPS, Dy. Inspector General of Police as the Chief Guest,
Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, while addressing the participants, emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and capacity building in Policing. He further stated that refresher and specialized investigation courses play a vital role in enhancing operational competence, updating officers with modern policing techniques and strengthening their professional skills to meet emerging challenges.
While speaking about the GOs Refresher Course, Dy. Inspector General of Police highlighted that Police officers at supervisory levels must continuously update themselves with evolving legal frameworks, leadership practices, technological advancements and policing methodologies. Shri Sharma advised the participants to utilize the knowledge and experiences gained during the programme in their field assignments for effective service delivery.
Referring to the Investigation of Traffic Accident Cases Course, DIG, Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma stressed the importance of scientific and professional investigation of road accident cases. He underlined that proper scene management, evidence collection, forensic support and analytical investigation are essential for ensuring justice and accountability. He further urged the participants to adopt a systematic and technology-driven approach while handling accident investigations.
Shri Rajesh Sharma, IPS, Dy. Director and Shri Benam Tosh, JKPS, Dy. Director alongwith other faculty members of SKPA were also present during the valediction.
The Chief Guest appreciated the active participation and dedication shown by the trainees throughout the courses and encouraged them to share the knowledge acquired with fellow officers in their respective units. He also lauded the efforts of SKPA faculty for organizing such meaningful capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening policing standards and improving public service delivery.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks and distribution of certificates among the participants.

Udhampur, May 21:
A training programme on “Investigation of Traffic Accident Cases” commenced today at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur, with the aim of enhancing the investigative capabilities and professional skills of police officers in handling traffic accident cases through scientific and evidence-based methods.
The programme has been designed to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge regarding investigation of road traffic accidents, including scene-of-crime management, collection and preservation of evidence, legal provisions, forensic aspects, accident analysis and adoption of modern investigation techniques.
The inaugural address was delivered by Sh.Rajesh Sharma, IPS, Dy. Director, SKPA, who emphasized the importance of professional and scientific investigation of traffic accident cases. He highlighted that proper accident investigation plays a crucial role in identifying causes of accidents, ensuring justice and strengthening road safety mechanisms. He advised the participants to adopt a meticulous, technology-driven and evidence-based approach while dealing with accident cases.
During the programme, experts and faculty members will conduct lectures and interactive sessions on various aspects of traffic accident investigations to enhance the practical understanding and professional competence of the participants.
The course is expected to significantly strengthen the investigation skills of police personnel and contribute towards better enforcement and road safety management across the Union Territory. The Course was Coordinated by Inspector Vikrant Kotwal and Sgct. Tejinder Chopra.

INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF GOS REFRESHER COURSE HELD AT SKPA UDHAMPUR
Udhampur, May 11th 2026:

The inaugural function of 02 weeks “GOs Refresher Course on the pattern of MCTP” was held today at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur, with great enthusiasm and professional spirit. Senior officers, faculty members, and participating Gazetted Officers attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Sh. Rajesh Sharma, IPS, Dy. Director SKPA underscored the importance of continuous professional training and capacity building in modern policing. He noted that present-day policing demands officers stay updated on emerging challenges including cybercrime, technological advancements, investigation techniques, public relations and law and order management. Officers were encouraged to actively participate in the programme and make optimal use of both academic and practical sessions.
The address also emphasized leadership, discipline, accountability and public-oriented policing as key to strengthening the image and effectiveness of the police organization. The refresher course aims to enhance the professional skills, administrative capabilities and operational preparedness of participating officers through expert lectures, interactive discussions and practical training modules.
The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks by the Course Coordinator Sh. Rakesh Sambyal, CPO, SKPA, who appreciated the support and guidance of the Academy administration and faculty for the successful commencement of the course.

Udhampur, May 7:
A ceremonial piping function was held at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, to honour police personnel who were recently promoted to higher ranks.
On the occasion, Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, DIG, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Incharge Director, SKPA Udhampur, formally decorated the promotee officers with their new ranks. The officers promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector included Rajinder Singh, Tariq Ahmed and Sanjeev Kumar, while Balbir Singh, Ashok Kumar, Bhupinder Kumar and Rakesh Kumar were promoted to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector.
While congratulating the promoted officers, Shri Shiv Kumar, highlighted that promotions in the Police Department are not only a recognition of dedication and professional competence, but also bring greater responsibilities and challenges. He urged the officers to discharge their duties in their new roles with commitment, integrity and enthusiasm.

IMPRESSIVE VALEDICTORY FUNCTION ORGANISED AT SKPA UDHAMPUR

Udhampur, April 25: An impressive valedictory function was organized at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur to mark the occasion of conclusion of essential course on “Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS)”. A total of Twenty two (22) police officers from various districts & wings of J&K upto the rank of Inspector are participated in the 03 days training programme.
The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing participants’ understanding of the functioning and significance of CCTNS. Conceived in the light of experience gained from the earlier non-plan scheme, Common Integrated Police Application (C**A), CCTNS is a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of the Government of India. It aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of policing through adoption of e-Governance principles and establishment of a nationwide IT-enabled state-of-the-art crime and criminal tracking system. Accordingly, the course was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in handling CCTNS.
A technical team from RPHQ Udhampur-Reasi Range Headquarters, headed by Inspector Raghu Raj, served as guest faculty and delivered lectures as well as hands-on practical sessions to the participants.
Deputy Director SKPAU, Shri Rajesh Sharma, IPS presided over the valediction ceremony, addressed the participants and distributed course certificates. In his valedictory address, he emphasized the importance of CCTNS knowledge for supervisory-level officers, stating that familiarity with the system enables them to effectively assess the performance of subordinates dealing with CCTNS. He also urged the participants to ensure delivery of citizen-friendly services to the general public.

03 days training programme on “Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS)”, commenced today at Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy. Twenty Two officers of J&K Police from various Units are participating in the training programme. Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) is a plan scheme conceived in the light of experience of a non-plan scheme namely - Common Integrated Police Application (C**A). CCTNS is a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of Govt. of India. CCTNS aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing through adopting evaluation of IT-enabled-state-of-the-art tracking system around 'Investigation of crime and detection of criminals’.
The course was inaugurated by Shri Ranjeev Kumar, Dy. Director Prosecution SKPA, he welcome all the participants on behalf of worthy Director of the Academy. During his inaugural address Sh. Kumar, said that this three days training programme is organized with the target to benefit the officers of the J&K Police and to make them aware of the various features of the CCTNS project and the proper way to manage the project for the benefit of the department. He also said that the learning and the implementation of CCTNS project is enhanced tool for investigation, ability to detect crime patterns through modus operandi across the State/UT, ability to analysis road incidents and other accidents.

Six-month Basic Police Training for newly appointed Assistant Directors of the Forest Protection Force commenced today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy. A total of 13 officers from the J&K Forest Protection Force, including 10 female officers and 3 male officers have joined the programme.
The training is designed to equip the officers with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in areas such as forest law enforcement, environmental protection, wildlife conservation, crime investigation techniques, field craft, leadership and inter-agency coordination. Emphasis will also be laid on physical fitness, discipline and professional ethics.
An inaugural function was organized on the occasion, wherein Shri Garib Dass, IPS, ADGP, Director SKPA, presided as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, Director SKPA highlighted the critical role of the Forest Protection Force in safeguarding natural resources and maintaining ecological balance. He encouraged the trainees to uphold the highest standards of integrity, dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their duties. Shri Rajesh Sharma, IPS, Dy. Director, Shri Benam Tosh, JKPS, Dy. Director, all Gazetted officer & faculty members of SKPA were also present on the occasion.

The three-day course on “Investigation of Anti-Corruption Cases,” which commenced on 15th April 2026 at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), concluded successfully today. A total of fifteen officers from the J&K Police participated in the programme.
The course was carefully designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to effectively investigate and combat corruption. The training focused on understanding various forms of corruption and the relevant legal frameworks. During the programme, participants benefited from expert faculties inputs on a wide range of topics, including anti-corruption definitions, policies, laws and Acts; an overview of the Prevention of Corruption Act; identification of suspects through handwriting analysis; investigation of abuse of official position; probing bank fraud cases; and preventive vigilance with special reference to the Public Men and Public Servants (Declaration of Assets and Other Provisions) Act, 1993.
A valedictory function was held to mark the conclusion of the course. Shri Rajesh Sharma, IPS, Dy. Director SKPA, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized that the investigation of anti-corruption cases goes beyond merely identifying offenders; it is about restoring public trust, safeguarding public resources and improving the lives of citizens. He urged the participants to adopt sound methodologies, adhere to legal frameworks and uphold the highest standards of ethics and accountability in their professional duties.
In his concluding remarks, Shri Sharma further highlighted that the fight against corruption is an ongoing process and investigators play a pivotal role as guardians of integrity. Each case they handle carries the potential to reinforce public confidence and strengthen the foundations of society.

A three-day course on “Investigation of Anti-Corruption Cases” commenced today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur. A total of 15 officers of different districts are participating in the programme.
Corruption remains a global challenge that undermines the principles of justice, equality, and transparency. It erodes public trust in institutions and hampers societal progress. The course has been designed to explore the complexities of anti-corruption investigations and to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively combat corruption. The programme focuses on understanding various forms of corruption and the relevant legal frameworks governing such cases.
An inaugural function was held on the occasion, with Shri Rakesh Sambyal, Chief Law Instructor (CLI), SKPA, as the Chief Guest. Welcoming the participants on behalf of the Director, SKPA, Shri Sambyal emphasized that investigating anti-corruption cases is not merely about identifying offenders, but about restoring public faith, safeguarding resources, and improving the lives of citizens. He stressed that such efforts contribute to building a culture where corruption is not tolerated.
He further urged participants to recognize that their work is not just a profession, but a service to society. Each case they investigate has the potential to bring about positive change and act as a deterrent against corrupt practices.
To achieve the objectives of the course, eminent guest faculty from the Anti-Corruption Bureau J&K and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), J&K, Jammu have been invited to share their expertise and practical insights on various aspects of investigation.
The course is being coordinated by Inspector Subash Chander with assistance from Head Constable Atul Rajput.
