Prabha Devi appointed as District President of JKNC Women Wing Udhampur.
August 30: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women Wing today organized a grand convention at the District Party Office under the supervision of District President Sunil Verma, drawing hundreds of women participants. The event was attended by JKNC State Vice President and former MLA Smt. Bimla Luthra as the Chief Guest, along with Women Wing Provincial Working President Smt. Rajni Devi. During the convention, Smt. Prabha Devi was unanimously appointed as District President of the Women Wing, Udhampur, a decision welcomed with enthusiasm by party workers and leaders.
In her address, Smt. Bimla Luthra emphasized the need to take Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s vision and people-centric policies to every household, noting that the government has prioritized women’s empowerment and welfare.
Smt. Rajni Devi called on women to unite and strengthen the organization across the Jammu region.
Party spokesperson Akash Verma highlighted landmark welfare measures including free bus travel for women, enhancement of marriage assistance from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000, and the provision of free LPG cylinders to eligible AAY families, urging workers to ensure these benefits reach every deserving household.
District President Sunil Verma reiterated the party’s commitment to translating intent into action by providing women meaningful representation and leadership opportunities.
On the occasion, Sunita Mehra was appointed City President Udhampur, Radhe Rani City Vice President, Anita Devi District Vice President, and Adv. Shabnam Akhtar District President of the ST Wing.
Senior leaders including Dr. Jitender Prashar, Block Presidents Shankar Singh, Om Prakash, Tirath Singh, Bhupinder Anthal, Ram Lal and others congratulated the new appointees with flower garlands and extended their best wishes. The program concluded with a collective pledge to strengthen the organization at the grassroots and continue working for the welfare of the people.
