DC reviews progress of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 02: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a review meeting with officers and representatives of the agencies associated with the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to assess the latest implementation status of the scheme in the district.

During the meeting, the DC sought feedback from the concerned stakeholders regarding the challenges being faced in the implementation of the scheme. He emphasized the need for an extensive door-to-door awareness campaign to educate the public about the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and encourage greater participation.

Stressing the importance of effective coordination, the DC directed JPDCL and empanelled vendors to work in close collaboration to bridge the gap between applications received and pending installations.

He further directed the vendors to expedite the installation of pending rooftop solar systems and ensure timely completion of all allotted cases, so that the benefits of the scheme reach the maximum number of eligible households across the district.

DC reviews implementation of District plan, RDD schemes in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 02: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today reviewed the progress of works being executed under the District Capex Budget 2026–27 and Rural Development Department schemes in the district here at a meeting with officers of the concerned.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore; Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh; Assistant Commissioner Development Om Parkash; all Block Development Officers and other concerned officers.

The Deputy Commissioner undertook a detailed review of the sector-wise progress of ongoing and new works, tendering and allotment processes, as well as the physical and financial progress achieved under the District Capex Budget and RDD schemes.

The DC directed the concerned officers to expedite the ex*****on of ongoing works and ensure their timely completion within the stipulated timelines.

The DC called upon the officers and field functionaries to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and commitment to achieve the desired outcomes.

He stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of quality in all developmental works being undertaken in the Rural Development sector across the district.

DLIC discusses modalities to boost youth entrepreneurship in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 24: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee under the Mission YUVA scheme to review and expedite the implementation of youth entrepreneurship initiatives in the district.

The meeting focused on the evaluation and screening of applications received under various categories of Mission YUVA, including Nano Enterprises, MSMEs and other eligible sectors, with the objective of identifying and recommending suitable candidates for financial assistance.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore, Assistant Director Employment Priyanka Gupta, representatives of the banking sector and other concerned officers.

After detailed scrutiny and deliberations, the committee approved 1,047 cases for financial assistance under the Mission YUVA scheme, paving the way for aspiring entrepreneurs to establish and expand their ventures.

The DC emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of implementation through enhanced coordination among all concerned departments.

He directed the concerned officers to expedite the registration and processing of cases and stressed the importance of maintaining transparency, ensuring prompt disposal of applications and providing all necessary support to deserving youth with viable business proposals.

He added that effective implementation of Mission YUVA would enable young entrepreneurs to become self-reliant, generate employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the district’s economic growth.

DC Udhampur reviews road safety measures at DRSC meeting

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 24: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) to review and strengthen road safety measures across the district.

The meeting was attended by SE PWD Sanjeev Gupta, Chief Medical Officer Dr Anil Manhas, ARTO Mudassir Iqbal along with senior officers of various concerned departments.

Threadbare discussions were held on several key issues, including road safety audits of the roads in the district, removal of dumped material from roadsides, strict implementation of the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 2019, identification of land for parking seized and impounded vehicles, utilization of road safety funds, assistance to accident victims under PM Rahat, identification of black spots, regular road maintenance, checking overloading and over speeding, curbing rash driving, sustained road safety awareness programmes, improving traffic management systems, decongesting busy routes and installation of proper road signage.

The DC exhorted all concerned departments to work in close coordination, ensure strict adherence to road safety norms, expedite the ex*****on of safety-related works and regularly monitor vulnerable stretches. He also emphasized the need to conduct continuous road safety awareness programmes in colleges and other educational institutions to promote responsible road-user behaviour.

Executive Engineers of PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure regular maintenance of roads to prevent mishaps.

The DC further directed the identification of black spots and implementation of corrective measures including installation of signboards, road markings and crash barriers at vulnerable locations. He stressed the need for timely corrective action to make roads safer for commuters and the general public.

The Motor Vehicles Department and Traffic Police were directed to take stern action against traffic violators, particularly those involved in overloading, riding without helmets and overspeeding. DC also directed the concerned departments to conduct joint inspections of vulnerable sites and take prompt corrective measures to enhance road safety across the district.

Eid-Milad Un-Nabi arrangements finalized in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 24: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting with district officers and representatives from civil society to finalize arrangements for the smooth and peaceful observance of Eid-Milad Un-Nabi.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh along with the district officers and prominent citizens attended the meeting.

Detailed discussions were held on the arrangements for the auspicious day including adequate drinking water supply, uninterrupted power supply, quality and rate checking of eatables, security arrangements, traffic management and proper sanitation.

The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance and maintained through close coordination with religious representatives and the local community.

Regarding security arrangements, the DC directed the concerned authorities to deploy adequate police personnel across the town. The Traffic Department was asked to deploy sufficient traffic personnel at congestion-prone areas to ensure smooth movement of traffic.

The Municipal Council was directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in the towns, while the concerned departments were asked to maintain uninterrupted essential services throughout the celebrations.

DC Udhampur inspects condition of NH-44, directs speedy debris clearance

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 19: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa today conducted an extensive inspection of National Highway-44 from Udhampur to Chenani to assess the status of debris clearance and ongoing works.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the ongoing debris-clearance and road-repair works undertaken to ensure smooth and safe traffic movement. He directed the NHAI authorities to expedite the removal of debris and ensure timely clearance of affected stretches to minimize inconvenience to commuters and the general public.

Emphasising the need for seamless traffic management, the DC directed the Traffic Police and NHAI to work in close coordination to maintain smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow on NH-44. He further instructed the concerned agencies to promptly remove debris and clear all landslide-affected areas, while ensuring the safety and convenience of commuters.
