ADC reviews arrangements for Devika Half Marathon in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 5: For the smooth and successful conduct of the Devika Half Marathon, scheduled on September 13, 2026, Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Prem Singh today convened a meeting of officers from the line departments to review and finalize the arrangements.

Threadbare discussions were held on arrangements for security, sanitation, healthcare, traffic management, drinking water supply and route management.

The ADC emphasized the importance of seamless coordination and close collaboration among the concerned departments to ensure that all necessary arrangements are finalized and put in place well in advance.

Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department was directed to ensure adequate drinking water supply along the route, while CEO, Municipal Council was tasked with cleanliness and sanitation.

The Chief Medical Officer was asked to deploy a team of doctors along with an ambulance to provide first aid and immediate medical assistance.

District and Traffic Police were directed to deploy adequate personnel to ensure foolproof security and smooth regulation of traffic during the event.

Students provided uniform, shoes at GHSS Latti

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 3: The students of Government Higher Secondary School Latti- Udhampur were provided school uniform and shoes by the school administration.

The expenditure for the Uniforms and shoes provided to 71 students was met from the School Mutual Benefit Fund. Sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Duddu Dr. Manmeet Kumar handed over the school uniform to the students.

He advised the students to remain focused on their studies and stay away from drugs and addiction. He appreciated the school administration for undertaking this noble initiative for the welfare and brighter future of the students.

Speaking on the occasion, the school Principal D.C. Kundal thanked the SDM and other guests for their presence and support. He encouraged the students to work hard and concentrate on their studies to build a bright future.

DC reviews progress of water supply schemes taken up under AMRUT 2.0

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 03: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa today convened a meeting to review the progress of water supply schemes in Udhampur, Ramnagar and Chenani towns under AMRUT 2.0.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh and the functionaries from the stakeholder departments.

The DC inquired about the component wise progress including construction of filtration units, storage structures, electrical substations and civil works, besides procurement of pumping equipment. He also assessed the overall physical and financial progress achieved under AMRUT 2.0 so far.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned executing agencies to mobilize adequate manpower and machinery to expedite the pace of work to achieve the stipulated targets within the prescribed timelines.

The Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department was directed to fix monthly targets and ensure their regular monitoring. The executing agencies were asked to strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines and specifications of the schemes.

DC reviews implementation of District plan, RDD schemes in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 02: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today reviewed the progress of works being executed under the District Capex Budget 2026–27 and Rural Development Department schemes in the district here at a meeting with officers of the concerned.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore; Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh; Assistant Commissioner Development Om Parkash; all Block Development Officers and other concerned officers.

The Deputy Commissioner undertook a detailed review of the sector-wise progress of ongoing and new works, tendering and allotment processes, as well as the physical and financial progress achieved under the District Capex Budget and RDD schemes.

The DC directed the concerned officers to expedite the ex*****on of ongoing works and ensure their timely completion within the stipulated timelines.

The DC called upon the officers and field functionaries to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and commitment to achieve the desired outcomes.

He stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of quality in all developmental works being undertaken in the Rural Development sector across the district.

The DC further directed the officers to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, ensure optimum utilization of resources and adhere strictly to prescribed timelines. He urged them to work with renewed zeal and dedication to achieve the targets fixed for the current financial year while ensuring transparency, accountability and quality in implementation.

DC reviews progress of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 02: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a review meeting with officers and representatives of the agencies associated with the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to assess the latest implementation status of the scheme in the district.

During the meeting, the DC sought feedback from the concerned stakeholders regarding the challenges being faced in the implementation of the scheme. He emphasized the need for an extensive door-to-door awareness campaign to educate the public about the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and encourage greater participation.

Stressing the importance of effective coordination, the DC directed JPDCL and empanelled vendors to work in close collaboration to bridge the gap between applications received and pending installations.

He further directed the vendors to expedite the installation of pending rooftop solar systems and ensure timely completion of all allotted cases, so that the benefits of the scheme reach the maximum number of eligible households across the district.

Chief Principal Census Officer (CPCO) and Director, Directorate of Census Operations, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Amit Sharma launched Population Enumeration (Phase-II) of Census 2027 for the snow-bound areas of the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The field operations were formally launched from the remote, snow-bound areas of Dudu and Basantgarh in Udhampur district.
