Today Chairman cm Managing Director of ECL Shri Satish Jha today visited and inspected Bankola Area No. 1 siding and Bankola Area No. 2 siding followed by Nakrakonda Kumardihi B Open Cast Project in presence of Shri Sanjay Kumar Sahu, General Manager, Bankola Area. During his visit he thoroughly interacted with various officials of Bankola Area and instructed for ensuring producing and supplying pure quality of coal with no contamination.

Today, dated 12th December 2025, the Corporate Bipartite Safety Meeting was conducted at the Gulmohar Club, organized by Bankola Area.

The meeting was graced by the esteemed presence of the General Manager, Bankola Area; Corporate Safety Board Members of ECL; ISO representatives; General Manager (Operation), Bankola Area; Area Safety Officer; Area Engg; Area Finance Manager; all Colliery HODs; and Members of the Area Bipartite Committee.

As part of the programme, the delegates carried out inspections of all collieries along with the VT Centre, followed by lunch at the Gulmohar Club.

The meeting concluded with a strong reaffirmation of the collective commitment to ensuring safe, compliant, and responsible mining operations across the Area.

Shri Satish Jha, assumes charge as CMD, CMPDI (Additional Charge)

🔹 Shri Satish Jha assumes charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of CMPDI (Additional Charge). Shri Jha is also currently serving as CMD of ECL.

🔹 Prior to this, Shri Jha has also worked as Director(Technical) at CMPDI and in various capacities at NCL. He has obtained his Mining Engineering Degree in 1990 from Nagpur University and M.Tech degree in Industrial Engineering & Management from ISM, Dhanbad in 1998. He is also pursuing PhD in Mine Planning from IIT-BHU, Varanasi.

🔹 Shri Jha started his career as Junior Executive Trainee from Bharat Coking Coal Limited in 1990 and worked mostly in Coal Production Companies in various capacities from Mine Manager to GM (Corporate Planning) to Area General Manager in various Open cast mines of Northern Coalfields Limited and South Eastern Coalfields Limited.

🔹 He played a key role in installation and Commissioning of "OB to m-Sand Plant" at Amlohri Project of NCL. He also received, "SECL Samman" award in 2003 for successfully managing the longwall and shortwall operations. Shri Jha in his official capacity visited Japan and Australia.

🔹 The vast experience of 35 years in both underground mines and opencast mines of Shri Jha is expected to benefit not only CMPDI but the Coal Industry as a whole.

National Unity Day observed at Bankola area on 31.10.2025 by administering Unity pledge by all executives staff and students of AG church.

As a part of Special.Campaign 5.0 , prize distribution ceremony was conducted at Bankola area on 31.10.2025 to all the winners of essay writing, slogan writing and painting competitions that were held at AG Church school and at Bankola area HQ during Swatchta his seva campaign. The winners were given prizes by Sri.Sanjay Kumar Sahu, GM, Bankola area in presence of Sri.S.K.Padhan, APM, Bankola Area and other executives and staff.

Also, we felicitated the Safai Karmacharis.of Bankola area who have played a major role in keeping the area clean and who were always on the front line in keeping the community neat and hygienic.
Sri.Sanjay Kumar Sahu, GM, Bankola area felicitated 21 Safai karmacharis with shawl and token mementos for their tireless efforts.

THE MESSAGE OF HON'BLE CMD SIR WAS READ BY SRI. SANTOSH KUMAR PADHAN, APM , BANKOLA AREA . THE MOST AWAITED SEGMENT OF THE PROGRAM WAS THE DISTRIBUTION OF PROMOTION ORDER TO ALL PROMOTEES OF BANKOLA AREA. THIS YEAR 219 ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES WERE PROMOTED TO THE NEXT HIGHER GRADES at Bankola area. GM, BANKOLA AREA CONGRATULATED ALL THE MEMBERS PRESENT IN TH E PROGRAM ON THE OCASSION OF THE 51ST FOUNDATION DAY OF COAL INDIA LIMITED. HE REMINDED ALL OF US ABOUT THE NATIONALISATION OF COAL INDIA BY SMT. INDIRA GANDHI, EX-PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA. HE ALSO OPINED THAT BECAUSE OF THE EFFORTS OF THE LEGENDARIES, OUR COMPANY IS EXCELLING AND PROSEPRING. THEIR VISIONARY GUIDANCE HAVE MADE US THE LEADER IN THE COAL INDIUSTRY. Shri. Sanoj Kumar Jha, IAS, takes over as Chairman, Coal India Limited (Additional Charge)

We are pleased to announce that Shri. Sanoj Kumar Jha, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, has taken over as Chairman Coal India Limited (Additional Charge).

Mr. Jha is a seasoned civil servant with over 28 years of distinguished service in public administration. Throughout his illustrious career, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and governance acumen across diverse sectors including rural development, commerce & industry, power, mines & geology, tourism, and food processing.

He brings with him a rich and varied experience in public policy, project implementation, human resource management, and regulatory affairs.

An alumnus of the University of Delhi, Mr. Jha holds a Master’s in Public Policy & Management from King’s College London (UK) and another master’s-level degree from the Indian School of Business.
