We aimed for the trophy but came home with something equally meaningful - THE FAIR PLAY AWARD - a recognition of integrity, humility, and the spirit with which we played.

Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) football team bowed out early in the quarterfinals of the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Trophy 2025. It was a moment of heartbreak, but not of defeat - for what we earned goes far beyond the scoreboard.

Our players showcased not only skill and discipline but also the true spirit of sportsmanship and unity. Their beautiful display of football, teamwork and composure throughout the tournament won the admiration of everyone - from those cheering in the stands to those watching online. We may not have lifted the trophy, but we surely won countless hearts.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the organizers of the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Trophy for recognizing and honoring the values our team stood for through the FAIR PLAY AWARD. This acknowledgment is a tribute to the dedication, humility, and sportsmanship our players carried throughout the tournament. We also extend our warmest congratulations to Nagaland United SC, the champions of this year’s tournament.

Above all, we thank the Almighty for His unfailing grace and every supporter who stood by our side in prayer and spirit. Though we played only two matches, we won something far greater - the hearts of the people and the pride of our community.

Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) President and Executives attended the 12th Inter-School Literary cm Sports Meet at Kamjong Headquarters, held under the inspiring theme “Unlocking Potential,” organized by Kamjong Katamnao Long. President of the Saklong, Eno. Ramreichan Keishing, attended the program as Chief Guest, alongside Yarchuiso Kashung, President of the Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL), who graced the event as Guest of Honour on the inaugural day.

In his address, Eno. Ramreichan Keishing lauded the organizers for their commitment and for thoughtfully choosing a theme that resonates deeply with today’s generation. He emphasized that “Unlocking Potential” begins with discipline, self-belief, and the courage to take initiative - qualities nurtured through education, sports, and collective participation in such meaningful events. He further encouraged the young students not to be lazy, not to feel shy, and not to indulge in immoral activities, but instead to be honest, diligent, and courageous in everything they do. He reminded them that every act, no matter how small, holds the power to transform communities when carried out with integrity and the right attitude.

The TKS team was informed by the organizers that seven schools from Kamjong Headquarters participated in this year’s event. It is truly commendable that, while many struggle to organize such gatherings even once a year, the Kamjong Katamnao Long has successfully continued this initiative for the 12th consecutive time, setting a remarkable example of consistency and dedication to the welfare and growth of students.

May such events not merely serve as moments of entertainment or competition, but as meaningful platforms to nurture wisdom, discipline, creativity, and unity among students. Let every activity - whether in literature or sports - become a step toward self-discovery, confidence, and unlocking of one’s true potential.

The President and Executive Members of the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) called on Eno. Conrad K. Sangma, President of the National People’s Party and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, during his recent tour to Manipur at Classic Grande Hotel, Imphal.

During the interaction, TKS team apprised him of the upcoming initiatives of the Saklong and highlighted several pressing issues - including the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR), border fencing along the Indo–Myanmar boundary, and the unequal representation of the Valley and Hills in the Manipur Legislative Assembly seats. These, we believe, are concerns that deserve attention on a broader platform, beyond political lines.

We are deeply humbled and grateful for the opportunity to engage with a leader who continues to stand as an inspiration for the youth - Eno. Conrad K. Sangma, a visionary whose leadership bridges dreams with action. Our brief yet meaningful conversation gave us a chance to share our concerns, and we remain hopeful that he will take thoughtful steps toward addressing the issues raised.

May he continue to inspire and guide countless young minds across the Northeast and beyond, strengthening the bond of unity, understanding, and progress among all communities.

The Saklong also expresses sincere appreciation for his humility and concern towards our student body amidst his tight schedule. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders and well-wishers who helped secure the appointment and for their guidance and encouragement to the Saklong in its mission to build an inclusive and brighter future for all.

In an electrifying Quarterfinal clash at IG Stadium, Kohima, our boys of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) gave everything they had against a strong Chedema Village Youth Organization side. After 90 minutes of fierce football, the result didn’t favour us - and yes, it hurts deeply.

We know many hearts were hoping, praying, and cheering for a win. We feel the same pain of not being able to give back the joy our supporters deserved. But through every kick, every save, and every moment on the field, our players played with unshaken resolve, carrying the name Tangkhul with pride and honour.

To Chedema Village Youth Organization - congratulations on your victory. You played brilliantly and with great spirit. We salute your performance and wish you success in the tournament.

We thank the Almighty for His blessings throughout this campaign - from the first match to the final whistle. To our players - thank you for giving your all and showing what true sportsmanship and unity look like. Though the trophy slipped away, your dedication and spirit have won hearts.

And to the organizers of the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Trophy 2025, our sincere appreciation for hosting such a remarkable tournament that unites and inspires so many.

Yes, the result may not have gone our way - but this is what makes football so beautiful. It brings together passion, heartbreak, unity, and hope all in one field. It teaches us that even in defeat, there is grace, and in every fall, there is a reason to rise again.

This loss is not the end - it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much stronger we can rise. We’ll come back, with lessons learned and hearts burning brighter.

We may not have lifted the trophy, but we’ve lifted each other. The journey continues and the spirit of the Tangkhul Naga lives on.
