**पहले क्या दावा करते थे — जनगणना के बाद क्या निकला**
बिहार में जातिगत जनगणना से पहले ब्राह्मण नेता और संगठन आमतौर पर अपनी आबादी **8% से 12%** के बीच बताते थे। कुछ संगठन तो इससे भी ज़्यादा का दावा करते थे — यह दावा चुनावी सौदेबाजी और आरक्षण विरोध की रणनीति का हिस्सा था।
**अक्टूबर 2023 की जाति जनगणना में सच्चाई:**

**सभी सवर्ण जातियों का हाल:**

**ज़मीन और जनसंख्या का अंतर्विरोध:**

**दूसरी जातियों का भी यही हाल:**

**राजनीतिक असर:**
जनगणना ने दिखाया कि ब्राह्मण जैसी पारंपरिक रूप से privileged जातियाँ सरकारी नौकरियों में अपनी जनसंख्या के अनुपात से कहीं ज़्यादा represent हैं। [Science](https://www.science.org/content/article/first-time-century-india-s-states-will-count-politically-sensitive-caste-membership) इसी आधार पर नीतीश कुमार ने OBC/EBC के लिए आरक्षण 50% से बढ़ाकर 65% कर दिया।
**सार:** जनगणना ने वो "inflated numbers game" तोड़ दिया जो दशकों से चल रहा था। 10-12% का दावा करने वाले 3-4% पर आ गए — और इसीलिए सवर्ण नेताओं ने जाति जनगणना का इतना विरोध किया था।
