Injured Female Wild Elephant Roaming Near Aanakulam River for Over 30 Days – Residents Urge Forest Department to Act



Idukki: A female wild elephant with a severe injury near its tail has been continuously roaming along the banks of the Aanakulam River, located on the border of the Malayattoor–Mankulam Forest Division, causing concern among local residents and wildlife enthusiasts.

According to local residents, the injured elephant has been moving around the Aanakulam area for more than 30 days. The wound near the elephant’s tail appears to be in a serious condition, and residents believe the injury may be causing the elephant considerable pain and difficulty.

Residents and wildlife enthusiasts have urged the Forest Department to immediately monitor the elephant and arrange necessary medical treatment with the assistance of veterinary doctors before its condition deteriorates further.

They have also appealed to the authorities to continuously monitor the elephant’s movements and take appropriate action based on its health condition.

Local residents hope that the Forest Department will provide immediate medical assistance to the injured wild elephant, which has been waiting for treatment.

Wild Elephant Movement Increases on Athirappilly–Malakkappara Road



Wild elephant movement has increased on the Athirappilly–Malakkappara forest road connecting Chalakudy and Valparai.

The Forest Department has advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel on this route after 6 PM, as elephants are more likely to cross the road during the evening.

A few days ago, the wild elephant known as Kabali was seen walking on the road and blocking vehicles. The video has gone viral on social media.

Meanwhile, last night, a female wild elephant attacked an ambulance at Anaikayam on the Athirappilly–Malakkappara road. The ambulance, belonging to Kalady Farmers Cooperative Bank, was returning after dropping a body in Valparai. Two people were inside the vehicle.

After spotting a herd of elephants near the roadside, the driver stopped the ambulance. Suddenly, a female elephant charged towards the vehicle and damaged its side window.

The incident was recorded on video and is now going viral.

The Forest Department has urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel after 6 PM. If elephants are spotted on the road, drivers should stop at a safe distance, give them way, and never approach them to take photos or videos.

3 Students Go Missing Near Pollachi – Safely Rescued at Night



Pollachi: Three Class 7 students went missing from a residential middle school operating in the Topslip area under the Ulanti Forest Range near Pollachi.

Following a complaint lodged by the teachers, Forest Department officials and police launched an intensive search operation.

Meanwhile, the three students were found standing near the Sethumadai Forest Department check post last night with minor injuries. They were safely rescued and admitted to the Vettaikaranpudur Government Hospital for treatment.

During the inquiry, the students reportedly said that they were on their way home from school when they were chased by a fox in the forest area. While running away, they fell down and sustained minor scratches on their hands and legs.
