Sangeet Natak Akademi and its associate bodies deeply mourn the sad demise of Shri Premchand Hombal, acclaimed Bharatanatyam exponent, revered guru, and recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

A distinguished figure in the field of classical dance, Shri Hombal made significant contributions as a performer, choreographer, and educator, and remained dedicated to the enrichment of Indian performing arts throughout his life.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray to the Almighty to grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss.

सन 2000 के उत्तर प्रदेश संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरुस्कार एवं सन 2021 के केंद्रीय संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित विश्वविख्यात भरतनाट्यम नृत्य गुरु श्री प्रेमचन्द होम्बल का निधन कल दोपहर 1 बज कर 31 मिनट पर लखनऊ के मेदांता अस्पताल में हो गया। वे जीवन पर्यन्त एक उत्कृष्ट शिक्षक रहे एवं मरणोपरांत भी एक उत्कृष्ट शिक्षक ही रहेंगे। चिकित्सकीय शिक्षण हेतु उन्होंने काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय, बनारस के इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल साइंसेज में अपना देहदान कर उत्तम आदर्श प्रस्तुत किया।
गुरु श्री प्रेमचन्द होम्बल का भरतनाट्यम एवं नाट्यशास्त्र के प्रचार प्रसार में विशेष योगदान रहा है। आप काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय के संगीत एवं मंचकला संकाय में लगभग 37 वर्ष कार्यरत रहे, विभागाध्यक्ष पद पर रहे तथा वर्ष 2016 में अवकाश प्राप्त करने के बाद भी विभाग में विद्यार्थियों की उन्नति के लिए लगातार सक्रिय रहे।

आज दिनांक 20 अप्रैल 2025 को उन्हें अंतिम दर्शन हेतु वाराणसी ले जाया जाएगा तदुपरांत उनकी देहदान की इच्छा को परिवार के द्वारा पूर्ण किया जाएगा।
