Scaly-breasted munia (Lonchura punctulata)

1. It is native to tropical areas of Asia. It is almost the size of a sparrow. Its name is derived from the characteristic patterns of scales found in the adults on the breast. Although the young have no scales in the area. It is about 09–13 centimetres long and weighs 10–15 grams.

2. Its population is found on paddy fields where pest is available on grains. It is also found in plains. There are records that they have been seen on foothills of Himalayas. These are seen in grassland, wetlands etc mostly close to water bodies.

3. They feed on insects, seeds etc. Breeding season in India is from June to August. Male and female both build the nest and incubate the eggs.

Spotted Owlet (Athene brama)
1. It is a small owl that is resident to South Asia and India. They have white eyebrows, rounded face and yellow eyes. It also has white spots on its grey body.

2. These are found In dense forest or tropical grassland forest. They show a high degree of camouflage. They usually perch in the bark holes of trees.

3. It is 18-21cm in length. They feed on rats, small snakes, toads, insects etc.
Breeding season is from November to April.

Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus)

1. Egyptian vultures are one of the largest scavengers in Aves, they are also known as Pharoah's Chicken.

2. Adult males size ranges from 45-68cm and that of females are 45-56cm , they have deeply hooked beak ,very strong gripping claws. Beak is yellowish , tip is black in adult and Facial skin is orange.

3. They are usually seen in dry grassland, shrubland, mountains peaks, inland cliffs. They are widespread in India, Nepal, and Pakistan.

4. Breeding season from month of March-May, usually they build nest on inland cliffs. During breeding plumage males feather are completely white with black flight wings.

5. They feed on dead animals or waste meat etc.

6. As per IUCN Red List they are in endangered list, only 12000-36000 individual are left.

1. Indian pond heron (Ardeola grayii) belongs to Cisticolidae. It is 15- 22 inches in length. The adult male in non-breeding season appears with short neck, short thick bill and buff-brown back. They lay around 3-7 eggs.

2. These are very common in India. They are Birds of the old world, breeding in southern Iran and east to the Indian subcontinent, Burma, and Sri Lanka.

3. Indian pond heron is mostly found in wetlands and sometimes in grassland habitats. The primary food of these birds include crustaceans, aquatic insects, fishes, tadpoles and sometimes leeches.

1. Zitting cisticola (Cisticola juncidis) introduces family of Cisticolidae. 3.5- 5 inches in length. Adult males have less crown streaking and more back marking than the females. They lay around 3-5 eggs.

2. They are widely distributed in india. Most populations are resident, but some East Asian populations migrate south to warmer areas in winter.

3. These are found mainly in grassland habitats, often near water. They eat mainly insects and small invertebrates including spiders. Spiders from one of the main food for chicks, the more common ones being grasshoppers and caterpillars.

Ashy Prinia (Prinia socialis)
1. Ashy Prinia is Cisticolidae family, it's a small warbler in this family. They are 12-15cm long, from lower mandible, belly is pale yellowish. It has small rounded wings.

Russell’s viper (Daboia russelii)

It is the most common snake found all over in Asia. Commonly this snake is seen in the farmland and attracted towards the human habitat. They feed on rodents, lizards etc. and this is easily spotted in cities near dumping area or building societies due to waste food. Vipers are highly venomous, due to human conflict every month there are several cases each month about the viper bites. This snake is one of those who gives a maximum dose of venom in single bite. But 60% there are case of dry bite (No venom injected to body).

Adult is around 5ft (Body and tail) and Juvenile usually found is around 1ft (Body and tail).

Cylindrical or fatty body and scales are very much keeled.

Big flattened and triangular head with big nostrils, head is distinct from neck, golden brown in color, on dorsal body has a 15-25 spots and may grow together but on sides spots may get separate. Each spot is dark in color, dorsal body spots is in a chain form (spots are joined) and on sides spots in same line but not joined.

Its a beautiful place and highly protected biodiversity near by Mumbai, sightings are awesome of birds like White-rumped Shama, Heart-spotted Woodpecker(Which is very rear in Mumbai but at Karnala its easily spotted), Asian Fairy Blue bird, Bronze Drongo, Pagmy woodpecker, blue monarch flycatcher, Our State Bird of Maharashtra Yellow Footed Green Pigeon, Etc. so this are the sighting which are rear in any nation park. But this place make it easy. And many more interesting things like insects, reptiles, etc

Robber flies (Asilidae)

1. Robber flies have stout, spiny legs and they have three simple eyes (ocelli) in a characteristic depression on the top of their head between their two large compound eyes.
2. They attacks a very wide range of prey, including other flies, beetles, butterflies and moths,various bees, ants, dragonand damselflies, ichneumon wasps, grasshoppers, and some spiders.
3. The fly attacks its prey by stabbing it with its short, strong proboscis injecting the victim with saliva containing neurotoxic and proteolytic enzymeswhich very rapidly paralyze the victim and soon digest the insides; the fly then sucks the liquefied material through the proboscis.
4. Adults are generally medium to large in size, with an average body length of 1 to 1.5 cm but with a range of 3 cm to more than 5 cm in length. The shape is generally elongated, due to the conformation of the long tapering abdomen, however there are also compact species with broad abdomens.
5. The egg is hyaline or pigmented and of variable shape from spherical to oval and up to 2 mm in length.
6. Asilidae generally occur in habitats that are open, sunny, and dry, even arid. They favour open or scattered vegetation, and some species evenfrequent bare ground.

Heugulins gull (Larus heuglini)
1.It is sometimes considered as a separate species but is now usually treated as a subspecies of the lesser black-backed gull.
2.They are large gulls with a rounded head, strong bill and long legs and wings. Length is from 53 to 70 cm, wingspan is from 138 to 158 cm and body mass is from 745 to 1,360 g.
3.In winter the head is only lightly streaked with brown but there is heavier streaking on the hindneck. The legs are usually yellow but can be pink.
4.They are regularly reported from Finlandand may breed there. They migrate south to winter in Southwest Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, East Asia, and East Africa.
5.They usually feed of molluscs or fish's.

This is healty and dominant male, big in size and spiny back it's the sign of male.
Behaviour-
1.Red Coloration is only to attract female.
2.When any competitive another male lizard is around them so they start doing push-ups and challenges for the territory.
3.Basking in sunlight every morning to keep body warm. As reptiles are cold blood body so they need sunlight everyday.
