# Tribal Students Present Lambadi Dance Performance to Welcome Hon’ble Chief Minister

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Velugonda Project, a grand Lambadi dance performance* was presented by around *1,500 tribal students* to warmly welcome the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The performance showcased the rich tribal culture, traditional art and vibrant heritage* of the tribal communities of Andhra Pradesh. The students participated with great enthusiasm and presented the traditional Lambadi dance as a symbol of their cultural pride and respect for the Hon’ble Chief Minister.

Today is a proud and historic moment for Andhra Pradesh. The spectacular Dhimsa dance performance by thousands of our tribal students and women has showcased the rich cultural heritage, traditions and unity of our tribal communities to the world.

I congratulate the Tribal Welfare Department, the tribal students, women, artists, officials and everyone who worked tirelessly to make this magnificent achievement possible.

A State-level Tribal Dance Festival and Art Exhibition
On the second day of World Adivasi Day-2026, a State-level Tribal Dance Festival and Art Exhibition was organized by the Tribal Cultural Research and Training Mission, Tribal Welfare Department at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada on 10.08.2026. Tribal artists performed their traditional dances and showcased their art and crafts on the occasion.
On this occasion, Sri. M. Mallikarjun Naik, IAS, the Secretary, Tribal Welfare, Smt. S. Bhargavi, IAS, Director, Tribal Welfare, Smt. M. Gowthami, IAS, Secretary, Gurukulam have paid rich tributes to the Tribal Freedom Fighters of Andhra Pradesh and India.
Smt. S. Bhargavi, IAS, said that the government is constantly working to provide basic facilities like education, health, employment, roads and drinking water to about 27 lakh tribals in the state and highlighted the rich tribal heritage of Andhra Pradesh, where art and dance remain living links to nature, traditions and spiritual beliefs. From Savara Edising wall paintings to Dhimsa, Mayuri, Kandhi Kotha, Komu Koya, Keelu Gurram, Chenchata and Banjara dances, these traditions embody indigenous identity and cultural knowledge. She emphasized on engaging youth in preserving and carrying this heritage forward.
The traditional dances of tribal communities are deeply rooted in their cultural identity and passed down through generations.
The Director, Tribal Welfare extended her heartfelt thanks to honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the great support and encouragement provided that was crucial for attaining Guinness World Record of Dhimsa dance. Further, appreciated all the tribal artists, artisans and cultural performers that participated and showcased their diverse cultural heritage at this cultural platform.
