*Hindustan Shipyard Limited Conferred Mini Ratna Status*

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) achieved a historic milestone by attaining the prestigious Mini Ratna status on 14 Oct 2025. This recognition marks a defining moment in HSL’s journey of financial revival, operational excellence and growing contribution to India’s Maritime and Defence sectors.

Established in 1941, HSL has been a cornerstone of India’s shipbuilding capability, supporting the Nation’s Naval and Commercial fleets. The shipyard faced prolonged financial challenges from the 1980s, and even after its transfer to the Ministry of Defence in 2010, its networth remained negative despite government support. Post-2015, HSL implemented targeted reforms in financial management, productivity, and technological modernisation, initiating a sustained turnaround.

HSL has posted net profit consistently over the last 9 years from FY 2015–16 to FY 2024–25, except FY 2020–21 due to COVID-19-related production losses and supply chain disruptions. This performance highlights the resilience, commitment, and capability of HSL’s workforce.

Cmde Girideep Singh, CMD of HSL, expressed his joy and gratitude:

*HSL Salutes Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar for Driving India’s Naval Excellence*

Hindustan Shipyard Limited had the privilege of honouring Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, during his visit to HSL on 10 Oct 2025.

Cmde Girideep Singh, CMD of HSL, along with the Functional Directors, expressed profound gratitude to the Vice Admiral for his invaluable guidance and steadfast support, which have greatly contributed to HSL’s growth in recent years.

Vice Admiral Pendharkar lauded the remarkable transformation of HSL into a premier Defence PSU delivering quality ships and acknowledged the Shipyard’s vital role in ship and submarine refits for the Indian Navy. He commended the progress made by HSL and expressed confidence that the Shipyard will continue to scale greater heights with the successful construction of Fleet Support Ships and other naval platforms.

*HSL Nurtures Industrial Welding Talent under CSR Initiatives*

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) signed an MoU with Skill Development Institute (SDI), Visakhapatnam on 07 Oct 2025 to provide training in the job role of Industrial Welding to 30 unemployed youth from weaker sections of society in Andhra Pradesh under CSR initiatives.

The training program aims to equip participants with essential welding skills and enhance their employability in the industrial sector.

Cmde Rakesh Prasad, Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), inaugurated the batch and encouraged the trainees to remain focused and dedicated during the training, emphasizing that skill and discipline are key to achieving meaningful employment opportunities.

*HSL COMMEMORATES THE 156th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI*

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) observed the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 02 Oct 2025, paying heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation.

Addressing the gathering, Cmde Girideep Singh, CMD, HSL, extended warm Dussehra greetings to employees, business partners, and stakeholders. He spoke about Gandhi Ji’s enduring legacy—his unwavering commitment to truth, his role in nation-building, and his unique ability to inspire and unite people across generations.

Drawing parallels with the Government of India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swachhta, the CMD underlined HSL’s ongoing efforts in indigenisation, shipbuilding, and defence manufacturing, contributing significantly to national self-reliance.

Reaffirming Gandhi Ji’s timeless message that “cleanliness is next to godliness,” he urged collective responsibility in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. On this occasion, all employees took the Swachhata Oath.

As part of this commitment, HSL organised multiple initiatives under the “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign from 17 September to 02 October 2025, and has launched “Special Campaign 5.0” from 02 to 31 October 2025.

Through these endeavours, HSL rededicates itself to Gandhi Ji’s values, striving for a cleaner, stronger, and self-reliant India.
