Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation - Smart City Visakhapatnam is one of the earliest municipalities in Andhra Pradesh. It is the civic body that governs the city of Visakhapatnam.

Visakhapatnam is a port city on the southeast coast of India and often called "The Jewel of the East Coast" . Pendurthi Zone Development & Civic Services Reviewed — Focus on Faster Delivery

GVMC Additional Commissioner Smt P.M. Satyaveni conducted a comprehensive review of development works and civic services in Pendurthi Zone, directing officials to accelerate pending projects, strengthen basic amenities and ensure timely resolution of public grievances.

Key focus areas included road development, TDR clearance, drinking water supply, street lighting, UGD maintenance, sanitation, TIDCO housing, Ward Secretariat amenities and PGRS grievance redressal. Officials were instructed to work in close coordination, maintain continuous field-level monitoring and complete priority development works within the stipulated timelines.

🧹 No Laxity in Sanitation Management: Sri Ketan Garg, IAS

GVMC Commissioner Sri Ketan Garg, IAS conducted a field inspection in Wards 45 and 48, reviewing sanitation, waste collection, drinking water supply and other civic amenities. He directed officials to take strict action against sanitation personnel remaining absent from duties for prolonged periods and ensure continuous field-level monitoring.

He also reviewed preparations for the upcoming local body elections, directing officials to expedite polling station identification and ensure necessary basic amenities. Officials were further instructed to speed up the 24×7 water supply pipeline works in Sonia Gandhi Colony.

GVMC has undertaken comprehensive road development works from Jaggu Junction to Y Junction as part of its efforts to strengthen urban infrastructure.

The road has been widened from 60 ft to 80 ft, along with the development of footpaths and VRCC drains to facilitate rainwater harvesting and improve stormwater management.

The works are aimed at enhancing road connectivity, pedestrian safety, drainage infrastructure and overall mobility for the citizens of Visakhapatnam.

🍽️ SHE Teams Conduct Food Safety Inspections in Gajuwaka

GVMC SHE Teams inspected hotels, restaurants and food outlets in Wards 66 & 72, focusing on food quality, kitchen hygiene, waste segregation, single-use plastic and trade licences.

⚠️ Spoiled and unfit food items were seized, while action was taken against establishments violating prescribed norms.

📋 Establishments operating without valid trade licences were directed to obtain licences immediately, while those with expired licences were instructed to renew them without delay.

💰 ₹45,000 penalty collected from violators.

Under the directions of GVMC Commissioner Shri Ketan Garg, IAS, regular inspections will continue to ensure safe food, better hygiene, public health and a cleaner environment for citizens.

A Safe Space for Working Women in Gajuwaka 🏠✨

GVMC, in coordination with Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited (GVSCCL), is constructing a Working Women’s Hostel at Gajuwaka under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) – Andhra Pradesh initiative.

The hostel will have 76 rooms with accommodation for up to 232 women, along with essential facilities including a reading room, medical room, CCTV surveillance and washing machines.

The initiative will provide working women with a secure and supportive living environment while contributing to inclusive urban development and women’s empowerment in the city.

🚧 Gopalapatnam–Old Goshala 100-ft Master Plan Road Widening to be Expedited

GVMC Commissioner Shri Ketan Garg, IAS, inspected the proposed 3.10-km Gopalapatnam Junction Arch–Old Goshala 100-ft Master Plan Road and directed officials to fast-track the widening works with a 120-day target.

The Commissioner instructed officials to immediately undertake a comprehensive survey and road marking, identify affected government and private properties, and expedite the TDR/compensation process to secure the required Right of Way. He further directed coordinated action by the Revenue, Town Planning and Engineering departments, with VMRDA funding the required infrastructure and GVMC executing the road construction works.

The project will include necessary infrastructure such as centre medians, protection walls and other road improvements, aimed at strengthening connectivity and improving urban infrastructure in the region.

Towards better connectivity and a better Visakhapatnam.

⚖️ National Lok Adalat: An Opportunity to Resolve Pending GVMC Cases

GVMC Commissioner Shri Ketan Garg, IAS, paid a courtesy visit to newly appointed Visakhapatnam District Judge Shri G. Srinivas and congratulated him on assuming charge, presenting him with a flowering plant.

The meeting highlighted the National Lok Adalat scheduled for September 12, which provides a valuable opportunity to amicably settle long-pending GVMC-related revenue and financial cases, including matters concerning Property Tax, Vacant Land Tax, Trade Licences, Water Charges and Advertisement Charges.

Commissioner Shri Ketan Garg, IAS, directed officials to identify eligible pending cases, inform concerned individuals and organisations in advance, and undertake a citywide awareness campaign to encourage maximum participation.

To make the process convenient for citizens, 12 special cash counters along with UPI payment facilities will be arranged to enable payment of dues immediately after settlement.

GVMC appeals to all concerned individuals and organisations to make use of this opportunity and resolve their pending cases through the National Lok Adalat on September 12.
