NIT Warangal welcomed its new undergraduate students at the UG Orientation Programme, with Director Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi delivering a meaningful Welcome Address in the presence of the Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty and staff. His message was simple and powerful: college is not only about earning a degree, it is about discovering who you can become. Students were encouraged to learn beyond classrooms, explore AI, robotics, biotechnology, quantum technology and data science, build confidence, stay healthy and make the most of campus life, clubs, hostel life, examinations and placement opportunities. Ms. Naga Vaishnavi Dasari, Ph.D. scholar in the Geotechnical Engineering Division, Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Warangal, has secured external funding to present her research at CREST 2026, to be held at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, UK. Her accepted paper, β€œDynamic Behaviour of Reinforced Earth Walls: A Frequency-Based Investigation,” has received a USD 1,000 travel grant from ISSMGE and industrial sponsorship from Heico. Her work highlights the importance of understanding the dynamic behaviour of reinforced earth structures, an area directly connected to the development of safer and more resilient infrastructure. Congratulations to Ms. Naga Vaishnavi Dasari, Dr. M. Heeralal, Prof. Kalyan Kumar and the entire research team.

NIT Warangal inaugurated a One-Week Residential Short-Term Training Programme on "Emerging Trends and Multidisciplinary Approaches in Physical Education and Sports Sciences" on 17 August 2026 through its Centre for Teaching and Learning under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre scheme and the Centre for Sports Activities. The programme has brought together 55 participants from across India from IITs, NITs, State Universities and other higher educational institutions, along with 13 subject experts from NITs and Universities. The programme aims to strengthen professional knowledge through interdisciplinary approaches, research, innovation and evidence-based practices in physical education and sports sciences. The inaugural programme was attended by Prof. Pisipati Radha Krishna, Dean (Faculty Welfare) and In-Charge Director, Prof. M. Sailaja Kumari, Coordinator, UGC-MMTTC and Head, CTL, Prof. P. Ravi Kumar, Head, Centre for Sports Activities and Coordinator, Prof. P. Chinnappa Reddy, Former Advisor for Physical Education and Sports, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. G. NIT Warangal has been granted Indian Patent No. 598788 for "Hydrazine-Assisted Reduction and Self-Assembly Method for Template-Free Nickel Nanoweb Formation" under the Indian Patents Act, 1970. The patent was granted on 12 August 2026, with Patent Application No. 202541117076. The invention by K. A. Saraswathi and Prof. T. Venkatappa Rao, Department of Physics, introduces a method for forming nickel nanoweb structures through hydrazine-assisted reduction and self-assembly without a template. Advanced nanomaterials research matters because the materials developed today can become the building blocks for tomorrow's technologies. Nickel nanostructures with useful electrical and surface properties can potentially support future developments in areas such as sensors, electronics and energy-related technologies. The specific applications of this patented invention will depend on further research and technology development, but the work represents an important step in expanding India's capabilities in advanced materials and nanoscale engineering. NIT Warangal congratulates the inventors and the research team for this contribution to Indian intellectual property and scientific innovation.

Ms. Rutuja Patil, Research Scholar, Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Warangal, working under Prof. Vasudha, has received a CSIR Foreign Travel Grant to present her research paper at the Net-Zero-Future Conference 2026 in Germany from 30 September to 2 October 2026. This recognition gives a young researcher an opportunity to present her work on an international platform where researchers and experts come together to discuss pathways towards a net-zero future. For the wider society, the importance of such research lies in building knowledge and solutions that can support sustainable development, responsible infrastructure and a lower-carbon future. International platforms such as this also create opportunities for scientific exchange and future collaborations that can strengthen research addressing global environmental challenges.
