Congratulations to the Iraqi eLearning Centre (IeLC)!

A well-earned congratulations to the IeLC on the successful delivery of the Basic Virtual Content Creation Course, held from 24–27 August. This achievement builds on the Centre’s recent upload of four Iraqi-developed courses to the Iraqi eLearning Portal.

Special recognition to BG Dr. Eng. Layth Muwafaq Abdulhussein for his leadership in driving this progress forward.

And the momentum continues: eLearning and new digital teaching methods are increasingly becoming part of everyday training across Iraqi Security Institutions. This is a great example of how Iraqi ownership, supported by NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) expertise, is turning digital transformation into practical results.

استحق مركز التعليم الالكتروني التهاني وبجدارة على تقديم دورة إنشاء المحتوى الافتراضي الأساسية بنجاح، التي اقيمت للفترة من 24 إلى 27 أب 2026. حيث يبني هذا الإنجاز الاخير على رفع المركز لأربع دورات مطورة عراقيا على بوابة التعليم الإلكتروني العراقية.
اشادة وتقدير خاص للعميد الدكتور المهندس ليث موفق عبد الحسين لقيادته في احراز هذا التقدم.
ويستمر التقدم:ان التعلم الإلكتروني وأساليب التعليم الرقمية الجديدة أصبحت جزءا متزايدا من التدريب اليومي عبر مؤسسات الأمن العراقية. وهذا مثال رائع على كيف أن الملكية العراقية، المدعومة بخبرة بعثة الناتو في العراق ،تعمل على تحويل التحول الرقمي إلى نتائج عملية.

NMI is a family.

After 12 months with NATO Mission Iraq, Brigadier General Haşim BİLDİŞ is returning to Türkiye. This is the normal cycle of rotations in any international mission.

But NMI is more than a mission. One of our Commander’s principles is “NMI as a family” — and we truly are.

NMI is an advisory, non-combat mission, focused on strengthening Iraqi capabilities. But this cannot be achieved without building a team. And teams are built not only through hard work, but also through the moments we share beyond it.

Now, Brig Gen BİLDİŞ hands over to his comrade, Brig Gen Hüseyin SARIÇİÇEK. The family changes, but the bonds remain.
Professionalism. Integrity. Mutual respect.

NATO says “Stronger Together.” It applies to the Alliance — and it applies to NMI.

Thank you, Brig Gen BİLDİŞ, for your commitment, your professionalism and your contribution to the NMI family.

عائلة بعثة الناتو في العراق.بعد 12 شهرا مع بعثة الناتو في العراق، يعود العميد هاشم بيلدديش إلى تركيا. هذه هي الفترة المعتادة للنشر في أي بعثة دولية.
ولكن بعثة الناتو في العراق اكثر من مجرد بعثة. حيث ان احد مبادئ قائدنا الاساسية هي " ان بعثة الناتو في يالعراق تعمل كعائلة" ونحن حقا كذلك.
ان بعثة التو في العراق هي بعثة استشارية غير قتالية، تركز على تعزيز القدرات العراقية. لكن لا يمكن تحقيق ذلك دون بناء فريق. وتبنى الفرق ليس فقط من خلال العمل الجاد، بل أيضا من خلال اللحظات التي نتشاركها بعد ذلك. الآن، يسلم العميد بيلدديش المسؤولية إلى رفيقه، العميد حسين ساريشيك. تتغير العائلة، لكن الروابط تبقى.
الاحترافية. النزاهة. الاحترام المتبادل.

Strengthening a partnership. Building the future.

Yesterday, the Iraqi Chief of Defence, General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, and COM NMI Lt Gen Ramón Armada held a high-level video conference.

Their shared understanding and commitment to continued cooperation on security, defence planning and the efficiency of the Iraqi Armed Forces demonstrated the strong alignment and determination to keep moving forward together.

NMI remains a relevant partner for the Iraqi Armed Forces. The commitment is strong. The mission continues — and its value is tangible.

عقد قائد بعثة الناتو في العراق يوم امس الفريق رامون أرمادا ورئيس اركان الجيش العراقي، الفريق اول قوات خاصة الركن عبد الأمير رشيد يار الله، اجتماع رفيع المستوى عبر الدائرة التلفزيونية.
حيث أظهر القادة فهمهم المشترك والتزامهم باستمرار التعاون في مجالات الأمن وتخطيط الدفاع وكفاءة القوات المسلحة العراقية التوافق الوثيق والعزيمة على الاستمرار في التقدم معا.

تخطيط اليوم. لبناء قوات اقوى غدا.
كيف يمكن بناء قوات مسلحة أكثر قدرة وكفاءة؟
يتحقق ذلك من خلال تحسين التخطيط، واستخدام أفضل للموارد، وتعزيز المؤسسات.
عقدت بعثة الناتو في العراق اجتماعا مع المؤسسات الامنية العراقية بالأمس برئاسة السيد ماجد فاخر ، المدير العام لسياسة ومتطلبات الدفاع، والفريق رامون أرمادا، لمناقشة ثلاثة مجالات رئيسية: التخطيط الدفاعي، إدارة الموارد البشرية، وإدارة الأزمات.
حيث تعد مسودة التخطيط الدفاعي للفترة 2027–2031 هي خطوة مهمة إلى الأمام.اذ تعتبر المواءمة بين الميزانيات والقدرات والأفراد أمر ضروري لخفض التكاليف، وتحسين الكفاءة، وبناء وحدات عسكرية مجهزة بشكل أفضل.
ان التحديات القادمة كبيرة. لكن الالتزام باالمضي قدما لايقل اهمية عنها.
بقيادة عراقية. بتركيز استراتيجي. و بجاهزية للمستقبل.
ان بعثة الناتو في العراق هي مهمة استشارية غير قتالية — و نحن نوكد التزامنا تماما بدعم مؤسسات الأمن العراقية.

How do you build a more capable and efficient Armed Forces?
Through better planning, better use of resources and stronger institutions.
Yesterday, NMI and Iraqi Security Institutions met under the leadership of Mr Majad Fakher, Director General for Defence Policy and Requirements, and Lt Gen Ramón Armada, to address three key areas: Defence Planning, Human Resource Management and Crisis Management.
The draft Defence Planning 2027–2031 is an important step forward. Aligning budgets, capabilities and personnel is essential to reduce costs, improve efficiency and build better-equipped military units.
The challenges ahead are significant. But so is the commitment to keep moving forward.
Iraqi-led. Strategically focused. Future-ready.
NMI is an advisory, non-combat mission — and we remain fully committed to supporting Iraq’s Security Institutions.

Protecting civilians. Strengthening trust.

The protection of civilians is a fundamental responsibility of the Armed Forces — and one of the Long-Term Objectives jointly identified by NMI and the Iraqi Ministry of Defence.

International Humanitarian Law, physical security in armed conflict and preparedness for natural disasters are all part of a broader goal: building a stronger connection between Iraq’s Armed Forces and the society they serve.

Thank you to Dutch PAX and all the Iraqi and international partners involved in this successful initiative.

Stronger institutions. Greater capability.

How can women’s participation strengthen the effectiveness of the Iraqi Armed Forces?

That was the focus of a lively Women, Peace and Security (WPS) workshop, where Iraqi WPS trainers led an open discussion on opportunities and challenges for women within the MoD.

The workshop was the second strategic-level WPS activity included in the 2026 Annual Training Bulletin.

WPS is not a stand-alone issue. It is a cross-cutting element of stronger institutions and must be integrated into Iraq’s Long-Term Objectives.

Iraqi-led. Future-focused.



مؤسسات أقوى. قدرة أكبر.
كيف يمكن لمشاركة النساء أن تعزز فعالية القوات المسلحة العراقية؟كان هذا محور ورشة عمل حيوية حول المرأة ، السلام و الامن. حيث قاد مدربو الوزارة العراقيون نقاشا مفتوحا حول الفرص والتحديات التي تواجه النساء داخل وزارة الدفاع.
كانت الورشة ثاني نشاط استراتيجي لاجندة المراه، السلام و الامن المدرجه في نشرة التدريب السنوية لعام 2026.
ان اجندة المراه، السلام و الامن ليست قضية مستقلة. بل إنه عنصر شامل لمؤسسات أقوى ويجب دمجه في الأهداف طويلة الأمد للعراق.

NMI and EUAM: working together to strengthen Iraq’s strategic resilience.

In close cooperation with our Iraqi partners — National Security Advisor Mr Qasim Al-Aboudi and his Office, the Security Sector Reform Committee, and representatives from across the Iraqi Government — NMI and EUAM discussed national priorities for crisis management and emergency preparedness.

Building stronger institutions requires sustained commitment.

NMI remains firmly committed to supporting Iraq’s reform processes and strengthening its security institutions — wherever our mission operates.

Our location may change. Our commitment to Iraq does not.

قد يتغير موقع عملنا، لكن التزامنا تجاه العراق لا يتغير.
