There is nothing better than building cultural bridges across the world. The Arabic Canadian Book Fair and its founder made this a reality in Canada from the west coast to the east coast. Reham Teama, Founder and Executive Director, built the bridge to connect Canada to Iraq and vice versa. In Edmonton, she collaborated with the Calgary Arab Society and a Tunisian poet. Houssem Ben Lazreg to recite Al Mutanabi's poems in Arabic and English. Flew for over 5400 km to the west coast and in Halifax she connected with Dr. Naima Alnajjar and Dr. Fayrouz Ibrahim, who recited Al Mutanbi poems to the Halifax audience, collaborated with Afterwords Literary Festival from Halifax and showcased Arabic calligraphy by the Iraqi calligrapher. Saad Othman and Nour, who showcased the art of embroidery. Reham showed her love to Iraq by presenting her storytelling talent, telling stories of Shubad, Queen of Sumer, and the pioneer of free verse poetry, not only in Iraq but also in the Arab world. She also sang, and the audience sang with her the known song عاش العراق - Long live Iraq. It was authentic, the presentation, the costumes, and the stories were all well put together. It felt like going back in time and living the actual experience.
