IHCHR Participates in Meeting to Develop Interior Ministry Curricula
The IHCHR- Baghdad Office participated in the periodic meeting of the Committee for the Review and Development of Human Rights Curricula at the Ministry of Interior. The meeting was held within the framework of joint efforts to discuss the completion of drafting and developing practical subjects related to security curricula, as well as reviewing and verifying approved sources and references in line with sound academic standards and the requirements of modern policing.
The IHCHR was represented by, Mr. Baraa Al-Hadithi, Committee Member and Project Program Director, took part in discussions that focused on mechanisms for designing the general structure of educational curricula and categorizing training needs according to the nature of the courses and the levels of graduates from police colleges and various security institutes. The meeting also addressed the importance of benefiting from advanced international experiences and practices in the development of police curricula and adopting modern methods in their formulation and delivery, thereby contributing to enhancing personnel efficiency and promoting human rights principles within the security and law enforcement system.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the need to continue such coordination meetings on a regular and frequent basis, while strengthening frameworks of cooperation and integration among all relevant stakeholders. The objective is to finalize comprehensive curricula that keep pace with modern developments and meet internationally recognized standards in police education and training.
