UN acting Resident Coordinator in Iraq, Mr. Peter Hawkins, visited Mosul today to see firsthand the significant progress made in the city’s recovery and reconstruction.

During his meeting with the Governor of Ninewa, Mr. Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil, discussions highlighted the contribution of UN agencies, funds and programmes—from providing emergency assistance during Mosul’s most difficult period to supporting reconstruction, strengthening essential services and enhancing community resilience.

Mr. Hawkins commended the people and local authorities of Mosul for their resilience and continued efforts to rebuild communities, restore services and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Iraq’s second-largest city.

زار المنسق المقيم للأمم المتحدة بالإنابة في العراق، السيد بيتر هوكنز، مدينة الموصل اليوم، للاطلاع عن كثب على التقدم الملحوظ الذي تحقق في مسيرة تعافي المدينة وإعادة إعمارها.

وخلال لقائه بالسيد عبد القادر الدخيل، محافظ نينوى، ناقش الجانبان إسهامات وكالات الأمم المتحدة وصناديقها وبرامجها، بدءاً من تقديم المساعدات الطارئة خلال أصعب المراحل التي مرت بها الموصل، وصولاً إلى دعم جهود إعادة الإعمار وتعزيز الخدمات الأساسية وقدرة المجتمعات المحلية على الصمود.

وأشاد السيد هوكنز بصمود أهالي الموصل وسلطاتها المحلية، وبجهودهم المتواصلة لإعادة بناء المجتمعات، واستعادة الخدمات، والحفاظ على التراث الثقافي الغني لثاني أكبر مدن العراق.
