Advancing Survivor‑Centered Interviewing through the PEACE Model
From April 19–21, 2026, a three‑day training in Duhok brought together investigators and psychosocial support teams fromCIGEl to further strengthen investigation and evidence collection approaches.
The program centered on the internationally recognized PEACE model, a structured approach to investigative interviewing that emphasizes Planning and Preparation, Engage and Explain, Account, Closure, and Evaluation. This model is designed to ensure interviews are conducted ethically, professionally, and with sensitivity to trauma.
Additionally, participants explored key psychological concepts such as Stockholm Syndrome, secondary trauma, and vicarious trauma.Importantly, the training reflects how CIGE continues to refine and enhance its methodologies to be more survivor‑centered, while ensuring evidence collection is increasingly solid, rigorous, and aligned with international standards.
