Today is World Photography Day 📷

Photography allows us to capture moments that are constantly changing, from shifting light and moving wildlife to landscapes shaped by weather, ice, and geology.

In a place like Iceland, where no two days look exactly the same, there is always something new to notice.

Tiny bird. Very big travel plans. 🐦🌍

The Arctic tern is one of Iceland’s most fascinating summer visitors - and proof that you definitely don’t need to be big to go very, very far.

Have you spotted one in Iceland? 👀

In August, the northern lights begin to return to Iceland ✨

The aurora doesn't disappear during summer. It remains active above the Earth, but the bright nights make it impossible to see.

As darkness slowly returns in late summer, the first displays become visible again.

What does a solar eclipse actually feel like? 🌘

For a few minutes in Reykjavík, the daylight changed, the world looked different, and everyone stopped in awe.

And then, almost as quickly as it began, the light returned. It was the shortest minute in our lives!

There’s something surreal about watching the daylight change to darkness in the middle of the day ✨

Today’s is Solar eclipse day 🌑✨

The Moon is stepping right in front of the Sun, and for a few magical minutes, daylight will dim and the sky will put on a show you won’t forget.

The exact timing depends on where you are in the country, but it will happen around midday and pass quickly.

It’s rare. It’s happening today.
Look up, take it in, and enjoy every second of it.

Tonight marks the peak of the Perseid meteor shower ☄️

Every August, Earth passes through a trail of dust left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle. As these tiny particles enter the atmosphere, they burn up and create the streaks of light known as meteors.

In Iceland, the Perseids arrive just as the nights begin to darken again after summer.

At Perlan, you can experience some of Iceland's most powerful natural forces without leaving Reykjavík 🌍

Walk through a real ice cave built from snow and ice. Follow the journey of magma beneath the Earth's surface in the volcano experience. Then look up as the northern lights move across the dome of the planetarium.

Glaciers, volcanoes, and auroras are all part of Iceland's story. At Perlan, they come together under one roof.
