Watch a live feed from Fagradalsfjall, facing Geldingadalir, where a fissure eruption began Friday night, March 19, 2021. It's the first active volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula in 800 years.

The eruption started as lava began to flow from a rupture in the ground in the valley Geldingadalur near the mountain Fagradalsfjall. The location is convenient as the eruption is considered small and there is no threat to any populated areas or critical infrastructure and all air traffic is safe.
