Ullarteppið Hjörleifur

Gýgjagjá - a cave that seems carved from another world, its peculiar shape earning it the name many now use Yoda Cave. Once touched by the ocean 🌊, today a black sand plain called Kötlutangi 🖤 stretches out in front of it.

Above the cave, on top of the Hjörleifshöfði tuya, rises a medieval burial mound - the resting place of Hjörleifur Hróðmarsson, half-brother of Iceland's first settler, Ingólfur Arnarson 🇮🇸.
