Oggi pomeriggio abbiamo avuto il piacere di accogliere Jim e Connor Hall, accompagnati dalla guida Danila Bracaglia. Connor sta seguendo le orme dell’artigliere Norman Maffei, che scrisse dettagliatamente della sua esperienza dalla Sicilia a Roma. In particolare, passò alcuni giorni tra Carano, Cisterna e Campoverde, descrivendo l’atmosfera di quei difficili giorni a seguito dello sfondamento delle linee verso Roma da parte degli alleati.
Ringraziamo in particolar modo Connor, che sta preparando un libro per raccontare della vita di persone che passarono dal Casale in uno dei momenti peggiori della sua storia!
This afternoon we had the honor of welcoming Jim and Connor Hall, together with their guide Danila Bracaglia. Connor is retracing the path of artilleryman Norman Maffei, who left behind detailed writings about his journey from Sicily to Rome. Along the way, Maffei spent a few days around Carano, Cisterna, and Campoverde, capturing in his words the atmosphere of those difficult days just after the Allied breakthrough toward Rome.
We are especially grateful to Connor, who is now working on a book to bring back to life the stories of the people who passed through the Casale during one of the darkest chapters in its history.
