The MiG-21: The Legendary “Fishbed”

The MiG-21, known by its NATO reporting name Fishbed, is one of the most iconic fighter jets in aviation history. First introduced by the Soviet Union in 1959, it became the backbone of many air forces during the Cold War. Its sleek, delta-wing design and supersonic speed made it a formidable opponent in dogfights, while its relatively low cost and ease of maintenance allowed it to be widely exported.

More than 60 countries operated the MiG-21, making it the most-produced supersonic jet aircraft ever, with over 11,000 built. It played major roles in conflicts such as the Vietnam War, the Six-Day War, and the Indo-Pakistani wars. Though simple by modern standards, the MiG-21 combined agility with effectiveness, earning a reputation as a pilot’s aircraft.

Even today, some nations continue to modernize and operate MiG-21s, proving the enduring legacy of this Cold War warrior. It stands as a symbol of Soviet engineering—fast, reliable, and unforgettable in the history of aerial combat.

🔺🇷🇺️Su-57 Gains New Hypersonic Strike Capability!
-The Su-57 fifth generation fighter has been equipped with hypersonic weapons.
The class of hypersonic missile in question remains highly uncertain, although it has been confirmed that an air-launched derivative of the Zircon hypersonic cruise missile currently deployed from Russian Navy surface ships and submarines was under development.
-The Zircon began its first combat duty on a Russian Navy surface warship in January 2023, and has since been used to equip the country’s attack submarines, while also being planned for integration on ground-based missile launchers.

🇹🇷️KAAN Fighter Jet to Get Advanced Decoys That Flood Enemy Radars With False Targets.
-Turkish firm Electronic Warfare Systems Engineering (EHSIM) is set to equip the upcoming KAAN fighter jets with “next-generation” tools to boost their survivability against advanced radar and drone threats.
The first tool, called the RF Active Expendable Decoy Systems (SIS), is a mission-disposable decoy designed to “outsmart” enemy detection systems and keep jets safe from aerial threats.
It can reportedly make a single aircraft appear as 10 to 20 separate targets on hostile radars, creating confusion and diluting enemy firepower.
