Joanne's page about Fattoria Resta An earlier inscription in the wine cellar, dated 1573, praises the excellent local wine.

The existence of Fattoria Resta is recorded as far back as 1236, the date appearing on a document testifying to a sworn statement made by a local count in the chapel. The existing villa was built in the sixteenth century, as demonstrated by the inscription under the eaves which you can read when the light is right: "E IO BIAGIO CICIERANI FATTORE E IO M° MARTINO DEL NERO FECE ANNO 1575" (I, Biagio Cicierani, the farmer and I, Master Martino del Nero, built in the year 1575).

Special people end up at Fattoria Resta!

Yorkshireman Richard Simpson and Fiona Musgrove of Hertfordshire are walking the Via Francigena from London to Rome to raise awareness and funds for the Royal National Institute of Blind People. They stopped overnight and tried their hands at harvesting olives 🫒

A busy time at Resta!
Only one day after Maria, the pilgrim on her way from Santiago de Compostela to Jerusalem with her dog, along came Amandine & Benjamin, cycling from France to the Philippines and thence to Australia by boat!

Fattoria Resta, a place where magical things happen!
Like hosting Maria and Liam. They left Finisterre (on the Atlantic Ocean 100 km west of Santiago de Compostela) in August to walk to Jerusalem.
They arrived in the rain needing some rest, food, and a washing machine 😅 and left with clean clothes and new energy!
