EUI Library Europe's social science research Library . We support . Most of the Library’s print holdings are on open shelving.

Research at the European University Institute is supported by an excellent Library in the Social Sciences, and a team of experienced librarians and information specialists. Nearly forty years of investment in collections, services and infrastructure, have resulted in an internationally recognised social science research library, valued for its multi-national character and the high quality of its c

ollections with a special emphasis on Europe. In addition, the Library provides its users access to an extensive collection of databases, full text e-journals, e-books and e-working papers. The Library has the status of European Documentation Centre (EDC), an official depository of EU publications and documents. The EUI subscribes to the principle of Open Access. Library staff strives to work with the academic community to increase the content, coverage and visibility of the EUI research repository, Cadmus.

Brotherhoods, Codes, and Ink brings together research on organised crime, focusing on the Vory v Zakone in comparative perspective with other traditional mafia organisations.
Led by criminologist Federico Varese, the panel explores commonalities and differences between the Vory and other mafias, followed by a short intervention on Vory tattoos and their symbolism.
📷 The exhibition Surrounded by Criminals features photographs by Nicolas Wieërs, examining the visual and symbolic language of prison tattoos through long-term fieldwork.
