Frasassi Caves

Frasassi Caves A spectacle unlike any in the world Beautiful stalactites and stalagmites are mixed with crystal formations, in a seemingly endless chain.

The Frasassi Caves complex, contained within the Marche regional section of the Apennines, is one of the world’s most fascinating underground passageways. A complete ecosystem, hidden below the surface, where it is still possible to observe the formation of concretions, through the drops falling down and carving, and in which life continues to thrive, as it has done for millions of years. Frasassi

Caves currently extend 30 km in length. To date, this is the world’s third largest hypogeum complex in terms of sheer size, but it is the world leader in terms of accessibility; the part that is reserved for tourist visits is equipped to provide safe and easy access to people of all ages, including the elderly and children accompanied by an adult, over an itinerary that covers 1.5 km and takes approximately one and half hours’ time. Visitors are always accompanied by professional guides. The temperature inside the caves remains at a constant 14°C (approx. 52°F). The Caves are open every day, except December 4th and 25th, and January 10th to 30th for biological reasons.
