The Politics for Unity Movement (MPPU) is an international network of politicians, ordinary citizens, diplomats and officials involved at various levels, administrators, academics, researchers, young people interested in political issues, of different inspiration and parties, who wish to respond, on a personal and collective level, to the great questions that humanity faces today, recognizing in u

niversal fraternity the content and the specific method of their political commitment. It started in 1996 and developed in response to democratic crises in many countries. Today it is established in Europe, Latin America and Africa, and is being established in Asia, the Middle East and North America. As a “laboratory” of political thought and practice, it proposes political innovation, advocacy and cooperation with national and international institutions, training courses for young people and political actors and processes of cooperation between peoples, cities, institutions, states, for the promotion and care of common goods and the common good.

🌍 How do we build a future that leaves no one behind while respecting our planet’s limits?

During our 2nd Global Synchronous Meeting on “Development: Building a Common Horizon”, 6 global speakers shared a powerful roadmap for systemic transformation.

From Javier Baquero’s call to design public policies starting from local communities to Carlota Sanz’s vision of Regenerative Doughnut Economics, real progress demands a shift in how we build our world. Castor Mfugale reminded us that resilience means transforming unjust structures together through Ubuntu, while Arch. Cynthia Funk showed how urban design can bridge the wisdom of elders with the energy of youth. On the ground, Marcela Vargas, Gonzalo Nacul, and Ariel Malvestitti proved that culture, collaborative governance, and youth sports are essential tools to “organize the good” and strengthen social fabric.

Development is not something done TO people, it is something we co-create TOGETHER.

What if politics wasn’t about winning against the other side, but building the common good together? 🌍✨

In 1996, Focolare Movement founder Chiara Lubich met politicians from widely different parties in Pompeii, Italy. Instead of seeing division in their opposing views, she saw a profound opportunity: pluralism as the true foundation for dialogue, active listening, and political innovation.

Two days later, the Political Movement for Unity (MPPU) was born.

MPPU is not a political party. It’s an international laboratory where leaders, citizens, and activists from all backgrounds come together to practice politics as the “Love of Loves”, the foundational support, like the stem of a flower, that allows education, work, family, and community to flourish.

In today’s world of intense global tension and polarization, fraternity is no longer just an ideal, it is a practical political necessity.
