Design Royale is an on-line workshop, a party-in-progress, and a mind-boggling night of the Milan Design week.

It’s an ongoing project built through human relationships.

14 days of physical work in Milan hideaways

It is a performance that, displacing the common use of places and everyday objects, playing on the reversal of expectations derived from the senses such as taste, sight and touch and introducing new rituals, new moods and modes of social relations, has staged a very playful, international and contemporary idea of breakfast.

The group, comprised of architecture students from NJIT (New Jersey Institute of Technology) and by some young designers NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan), has worked side by side for a week during a workshop titled Wonder Breakfast.

For three days the participants were asked to collect and process references and suggestions of various kinds: in the morning visiting some places in Milan, according to an ideal map, to observe the rites, taste food, experience the social relations that are typical of an Italian breakfast, documenting everything with photos, videos, interviews, drawings, literary descriptions; the open discussion in the afternoon has helped bring to light the issues upon which the project has developed the final concept.
For other three days the breakfast was served, every morning, for a selected number of guests and always different, which had the chance to experience the particular arrangement of space and taste the foods and beverages designed by students.
